League insiders tells Tony Pauline that Aaron Glenn will end up being Saints Head Coach [Edit: Underhill says no decision is close to being made] (18 Viewers)

I would not be surprised if Loomis wants to make a hire that keeps the offensive staff in place. They need a couple years to get this salary cap right. The front office is big believers in continuity. I honestly would not hate this. Glenn is a great leader by all accounts and that’s what this team missed the most outside the lack of healthy players.

Just in general/historically the Saints have kept a hand full of coaches through different coaching changes.

All Payton kept from Haslett was defensive assistant Joe Alley and assistant strength and conditioning coach Adam Bailey. Nobody of significance. The stuff I’ve heard speculated in the media is we hire a defensive HC and keep the entire offensive staff. Not normal.

The previous hiring cycle with Allen and now apparently zeroing in on someone who has a history with the team tells me he’s not looking for anyone who’ll shake things up.

Out of curiosity, do you feel the same about Joe Brady who has a history with the team?

This remains silly.

No one the Saints hire will change the Saints ownership management framework because *THEY ARE THE ONES HIRING HIM.*

If ML is not going to relinquish control or support a new path, it doesn't matter what name is hired -- a total stranger is the same as Aaron Glenn because whoever they hire will be hired because they fit their plans.

This goes equally for if they are empowering someone to start over ...it's probably even more likely they would entrust that responsibility with someone they know than a rando.

We will see what they do when they do it, but the worry over hiring anyone who even briefly coached with Sean Payton over his 15 years here as if that means it will meaningfully reduce their autonomy is not logical.

Another term for continuity is status quo. Since Sean and Drew left, the status quo has been slowly killing this organization. The offensive staff has not demonstrated anything that suggests they should be retained.

Yall remember when that guy posted that video telling ML “to fire Dennis Allen” last year???
ML did nothing

Yall remember when ML did that presser, smacking gum and fired up cue cards, talking about Chuck Knoll and such???
ML did a whole lotta nothing.

ML is what the streets call “SHOOK”. Dude is so He** bent on recreating the formula of success, that started in 2006, that he can’t untie himself from that era.

Why can't they just look for who they think will be a good HC regardless of whether they have ties to the Saints or not.? It's not like AG's name only comes up with the Saints HC job.

I think even getting involved or having input on staff selection is kind of out of pocket for a GM. Like why on earth would Loomis have motive to want to keep any of these guys on our staff?

The process should be, we hire a head coach who we believe in, and we let him select his staff. It's unheard of for a GM to say "it'd be really nice if you kept these guys on" kinda thing.

The previous hiring cycle was about maintaining what Payton had built. They (wrongly) thought the train would just keep moving. The desire for familiarity dos not have to mean that they are looking to keep the status quo. Aaron Glenn is not Dennis Allen. All of this talk of ego and whatnot is just more fan board psychologist nonsense.
