League insiders tells Tony Pauline that Aaron Glenn will end up being Saints Head Coach [Edit: Underhill says no decision is close to being made] (3 Viewers)

I look at Loomis in a completely different light after his gum smacking press conference last year. Heā€™s hell bent on showing that heā€™s at least half if not most of the reason for the Saintsā€™ success the past two decades. When in reality Sean Payton and Drew Brees made up most of the pie.

Here comes Mr. Copy and Paste. Lol

The reality is as a fanbase we donā€™t need some reporter telling us what will happen. All we need to do is look at what has happened recently. Loomis wants familiarity and has already interviewed Glenn for the HC position. The Saints have to interview a minority candidate again due to the Rooney rule which means itā€™s a given Glenn will get another interview for the HC position. I would be shocked if it isnā€™t Aaron Glenn at this point. I would rather Flores if weā€™re going defensive minded head coach.

The previous hiring cycle was about maintaining what Payton had built. They (wrongly) thought the train would just keep moving. The desire for familiarity dos not have to mean that they are looking to keep the status quo. Aaron Glenn is not Dennis Allen. All of this talk of ego and whatnot is just more fan board psychologist nonsense.
Ummmmmā€¦ā€¦well, Iā€™m a fan of Glenn, and wouldnā€™t be opposed to the hire.
However, it was reported that ML will hire someone he ā€œknowsā€, along with the other report of Glenn having the inside track. Sure, Glenn and DA are two different people, although making a hire based on replicating the same formula of success, is a product of status quo. You donā€™t have to have the same individuals for something to be status quo. Itā€™s more of the system and process, that lends credence to it.

Plus, if other potential candidates get the feeling that Glenn will ultimately be the hire, then why should they even care to interview with us, or take us seriously????
These reports, whether true or not, is doing more harm than good. We could be missing out on other great hires

Im not trying to defend Loomis here at all (I'm ready for a full reset top to bottom myself) but why do we all of a sudden think Loomis is some kind of control freak who needs a ā€œyes manā€ to be his next head coach? Loomis himself was quite literally Sean Paytonā€™s ā€œyes manā€ for years. I know heā€™s mentioned continuity on several occasions, but I honestly donā€™t believe thatā€™s still a deciding factor on our next head coach. Even Loomis has to realize that didnā€™t work at this point.

The reality is, no matter who is hired as the next head coach, they are inheriting a team in salary cap hell. May as well hire someone who thinks they can win with what you have, because you donā€™t have the cap flexibility for a reset. Then after two years when the cap is right, you can reset with another new staff if needed.
