Tyrann Mathieu and Saints to re-visit talks (1 Viewer)

He’s a hybrid he played QB in high school then became a receiver after committing to UT he switched to CB and played safety. But DA said he see’s him as a corner. I really didn’t like the pick but after watching tape he reminds me of CGJ with how aggressive he plays. He’s not afraid to lay that hat while hitting you.
I was impressed with the video clip of him during the draft. He's pretty fast as well.

With the 49th pick New Orleans Saints Select Alonte Taylor CB Tennessee. If they were gonna go after tyrann all along I once again say that pick should have been used for a pass catcher
I don't remember the board at the time of the pick, but I believe WR was a reach.

Skyy Moore was on the board. Which is frankly, is the pick I would have liked. But I have no idea what grade the Saints had on Moore and given his height, it might not have been very high.

Damn... I forgot he fell that low. That's wild. Be the perfect slot weapon.

Defense is taking shape. Signing Tyrann will be to replace Jenkins style of play. That would keep Ceedy in his role. If we don't sign him I could see Ceedy taking on Jenkins role and Roby playing the slot. The drafting of Alontae could be a safety move regardless of what DA says, or it could be someone to give us boundary depth that is better that Crawley.

I believe Maye will play more of a SS role than center fielder. I just don't like PJ as a deep safety because he isn't the fastest to cover ground. That's why I liked the idea of Alontae playing safety because he has the speed. It will be interesting to see what happens. I feel like Adebo played well enough to warrant him being the starter and I don't see Alontae outplaying him in his first season.

Saints are weird when it comes to short players unless they are UDFA.

Sounds great but DA said they would play Taylor at boundary corner - so who plays the FS role?
