N/S Tyreek Hill arrested for traffic violation near the stadium in Miami (Hill played) (1 Viewer)

NO I can indeed choose what is reasonable and what is not reasonable because it is I that am acquiescing some of my personal liberty in exchange for security. Dont even begin to equate a cop sacrifice with a soldiers.

If the quality of my life wasnt on the line I would have zero need for cops. It is illegal to kill me, doesnt stop someone from killing me. It is also illegal for someone to kill a cop. What is not illegal is one soldier killing another soldier in the time of war. A cop does not and should not ever command that level of respect.

If you are a cop, you put your life on the line as part of the job you are paid for AND you do so with ALL the other restrictions placed on you. If you cant obey the restrictions then dont enforce the law. Your personal on the job safety does not EVER supersede my liberty. Find another job if you cant get the priorities straight.
You’re the only one bringing soldiers into this. But you know joining the arm forces is voluntary. There hasn’t been a draft in some time.

Yep I agree with that. And again I recognize the black experience is different than mine. But at the end of the day resisting guarantees a bad out come. Compliance gives you a better than average good chance at a good out come. I DO believe the vast majority of cops are not racist but the others create that mistrust.
It's not all about being racists. It's about abusing an extraordinary power granted to them. It's about knowing the law and abiding by the oath they swore. It's about lying to the citizenry to trick them into giving up their rights. It's about simply being truthful with the public. Hill gave his license and registration. The cop gave an unlawful command to roll down his window. The cop violated his 4th amendment by opening his car door and dragging him out the car. The cop was unprofessional in manner in which he cursed at Hill. Most police actually know that law but some of them use intimidation to force people to give up their rights.

I got pulled over for speeding. My wife was with me. I give me license and registration and then he asks my wife for hers. He gets mad because I told her not to give him her ID because he had no right under the law to ask for it. He retaliated by keeping us there for 25 minutes for a speeding ticket for going 4 miles over. THAT type of crap is what give cops a bad rep. It might not seem like a big deal but to the people defending cops, you tell me which of your rights would you be willing to surrender.

The fact he said in the press conference "what if I wasn't Tyreek hill" tells me a lot about his personality. Feel bad for the cops that have to go through this stuff over a smart mouth entitled millionaire.

This one almost made me spit my Gatorade out.....he was referring to black male motorists that are abused, shot, etc.....for absolutely no good reason....you would have to have your head deep in the sand not to get that comment.....you can disagree with it (for some weird, nonsensical reason) but I really don't feel bad for the cops because it, once again, shows their inability or unwillingness to de-escalate.....

I am not surprised. Guess no 3 strikes and you’re out.

Well, dang, that guy needs to find another profession.
We cannot even have a serious discussion about the underlying issues here. This is not the first time an officer who received disciplinary actions in the past finds themselves right in the middle of something much worse. I'm glad most parties honestly assessed what transpired days later.

Yep, I mean, I get like 2 or 3 maybe, but damn, 6? Give that guy a permanent desk job at least. Lol.

Was Hill being a bit of a Knucklehead? Yep. Did that deserve that kind of response? Not even close.

All I’m saying is, if I were to get stopped by cops, driving a high priced vehicle, with super dark tints……. I would not say something like “Don’t bang on my windows like that” (multiple times), then just hand them my DL, while rolling the window up, then refusing to roll the window down. Not saying there isn’t enough blame to go around……just saying that I would have done things differently if I were Tyreek.
90% of the time I am of the opinion that you just comply with the LEO, but those cops here hot-headed and looking for a confrontation. TH gave them his DL and rolled up his window, he was on his phone and didn't roll down his window fast enough to suit these cops. The said roll down your window or we'll make you get out, they gave him no chance to roll it down then said get out. then they gave him no chance to get out before they forcibly removed him and forced him to the round.
I'm sorry that should be a training video for cops on how NOT to de-escalate a situation. Then they further escalated the situation by threatening other people to leave. Citizens have every right to document police activity. This situation is 20% Hill's fault and 80% hot headed police

You really didn’t watch the video did you? Hill is confrontational from the start. Hey surprise you were an butt crevasse to the officer so he was an butt crevasse back. Weird
Like I said in another post , 90% of the time I'm on the side of the person being compliant with the LEO. In this situation, it is the LEO's responsibility to de-escalate the situation NOT match butt crevasse with butt crevasse. It's what they should be trained to do. As a LEO you don't get to get your feelings hurt. The Leo's cause this situation more then Hill

TH cracked his window enough to communicate and to pass documents through which is all the law requires
Then he raised his window all the way up...
The police officer started knocking on his, window then lost his cool & pulled him from the vehicle put him on the ground and cuffed him.
I watched the video!

All of this could have been easily avoided...
Lower your window all the way & when you see the officier approaching your car, put your hands on the steering wheel...
Why is this concept so hard for some people.

Serve time in the Military & pull up to the MP's or SP's at the gate & barely crack your window & then roll it back up when they are speaking to you see what happens......

The police have a job that I would never want to have... approaching any car for them could be the end of their life!

Well I think you ironically pointed out why it’s so hard
We don’t (at least in theory) live in a police state
If you’re using military behavior to explain policing, you’ve missed a fundamental point about freedom

I'm not using a military or police state to explain someone's behavior.
It was a statement to show that most people in America do this every day without any problems and our veterans, the people who protect our rights do it multiple times a day!
