N/S Tyreek Hill arrested for traffic violation by stadium in Miami on gameday (Hill played) [Reckless driving & seatbelt charges dismissed] (3 Viewers)

Sorry but I still don't understand. YES the cop was over the top. But please help me understand what he is supposed to do. TH was speeding. He refused to cooperate. So does the cop say "ok you don't want to cooperate so you are free to go"? Seriously... what is the right way to handle someone who has broken the law.. albeit a minor transgression... that simply won't cooperate...
He actually did cooperate though. Cop already had what he needed to write him a ticket. He just got mad because Hill talked back at him because of the knocking on his window and rolling it back up. Which is actually pretty silly. I've rolled my window (yes, I have tinted windows too) back up after the cop went to his car to write up the ticket.

At the point when the cop told him to get put of the car, he barely had any time to react. Just let him get out the car and talk to him like a normal person. None of that is hard to do.

Probably my last post on this subject. I love being clowned... No substantive response... But let me clown him

Tells me all I need to know

How many times do people have to be told to simply follow police commands? Had he simply followed their instructions, which he absolutely didn't do, he would have not been removed from the car and placed in handcuffs. Probably wouldn't have even got a citation. Law enforcement lives are on the line every time they encounter someone. They have to err on the side of caution and assume someone who isn't cooperating, even non-violently, could literally cost them their lives. Absolutely bad cops exist. Bad football players. Bad celebrities. Felon politicians. Bad fans. We're all human and flawed. Law enforcement officials and our military are the only ones who sign up to protect and serve and willingly put their lives on the line every day. In a world of bat-crap crazy and evil. Hill's driving infractions and refusal to obey simple commands is why the incident happened. And on top of that, he takes no ownership of his bad decisions.

ok but we don't know who the driver is... WE know he is TH a major football star but the cop does not.... The cop has someone who is breaking the law... albeit a minor infraction.... who is refusing to cooperate.....

Look it is easy to say the cop over reacted... He did.... But again what is the right thing to do.... You say write a ticket and tell him to move on.... But if he is hiding behind the tinted windows as a bigger bad guy and the cop let him go with a ticket... Well now the cop is not doing his job and let a dangerous guy (an erroneous assumption TODAY but not on the spot) and now the cop is wrong AGAIN
AGAIN, the cop had everything he needed to complete the purpose of that traffic violation stop. He walks away to complete the citation, the window goes up and he stopped!

He has the information to complete the citation, but he choose to deviate from completing the traffic citation and engage Hill's behavior. Hill's action doesn't obstruct him from doing his job, if that was the case, where's the obstruction charge?

Exactly. I don't get why people can't see it . The cop was always the one in control the entire time. There was nothing problematic with Hill rolling up his window at that point other than the cop getting butthurt about it. If he goes and write the ticket, hands it back to Hill, even if he's mouthing off. Cop should be professional enough to brush it off and go about his day. I guess some people need drama in their life.

did you read the thread?
probably 20-30 posts directly addressing your concerns/questions

Great post.

I don't know the law, but I think it should be illegal to roll the window up when pulled over no matter what the infraction.

Cops shouldn't have to guess whether you're grabbing a weapon.

And quite frankly, knowing it was Tyreek Hill would not put my mind at ease if it was the cop. Hill is a criminal and unstable.

Lose the attitude and stop acting like an entitled jackass and comply with simple instructions.

As for detaining the other two. Stay the hell out of it. Cops don't need you crowding around.

Again it comes back to simply not being able to follow simple commands. It's like some people just have to be arses to cops.

About 90 percent of police shootings wouldn't even happen if the idiot just listened to the cop.

I disagree, but i get why you'd think that.

Do you think that should happen to people that moth off? I don't. It shouldn't have happened to you and it shouldn't have happened to a lot of people, some who were shot and killed because the cops escelated because they didn't like someone mouthing off.

No one is saying it's always about race, but unquestionably some get it worse than others. The stats are pretty clear cut in that respect

How is Hill being martyred here? Just about everyone here says he could have handled it better, heck, even Hill says he could have handled it better.

Then why were his 2 teammates detained when they literally were trying to calm things down? I don't know what's in cop's heads, but that's no way to handle this situation. Screw that nonsense.

Even if it's not legal? And what if two different cops are telling you 2 opposite things? What then?

I'm not denying Hill has acted like an idiot in the past. The fact is, most people have done stupid sheet at times in their life. You like people holding your past over your head? I don't.
I deserved it. Was given a simple order and didn't listen. Shouldn't have gotten hauled in for mouthing off but for not listening sure. There was a crowd and if everyone disobeyed it would be chaos.

It's not about race as much as it's about criminality. Almost all of the "victims" have extensive criminal histories.

This should be a non story IMO. Idiot player temporarily got detained because he's an idiot. Move on.

The other two have no business in trying to calm things down. Get the hell away like the cops said. No one was in danger. Stay out of it. Again, simply can't listen.

I've done stupid things. I've never beat a woman. Some things you don't get second chances from IMO. He burned every bridge he'd ever have with me.

I wouldn't have him on my team and I wouldn't pull for him if my team signed him. I'd root against him every time. He's a loser.

Gee.. You mean actually listen to law enforcement??? What a radical thought

How long were you a cop?

I don't know the law, but I think it should be illegal to roll the window up when pulled over no matter what the infraction.
Why? That's never been a rule that I'm aware of, and if it's raining, windy, whatever, if the cop isn't at the window talking to the driver, there's no need for the window to be down. It's a silly requirement.
Cops shouldn't have to guess whether you're grabbing a weapon.
They shouldn't, but that's why the window goes down when the cop gets to the window, and of course both hands visible. But a window cracked open doesn't mean they can't see.
And quite frankly, knowing it was Tyreek Hill would not put my mind at ease if it was the cop. Hill is a criminal and unstable.
So what? You expect cops to be scared every time the roll up on someone? If that's the case, the cop needs to be re-trained.

Everyone responds to stressful situations differently. The cops are the ones with the gun and the ones who are supposed to be in control. I've dealt with loud people before in my previous lines of work. The best thing to do is do my job as best I can and ignore the drama to the extent possible. My goal was always to try and defuse situations. Usually it works. Some people aren't good at following instructions, that doesn't mean we have to be confrontational about it. The cop had the documents that Hill had already given him and all he had to do was ignore Hill and go write up the ticket. The cop chose to respond to Hill's words rather than do his job. He took it personally. The opposite of professional.
As for detaining the other two. Stay the hell out of it. Cops don't need you crowding around.
Uh, no, cops are grown arse men. If they can't handle people coming to try and defuse a situation, and they don't have the self-awareness to realize how this all looks, there's a problem here.
Again it comes back to simply not being able to follow simple commands. It's like some people just have to be arses to cops.
Most people aren't, but sometimes people are having a bad day, sometimes people have other things on their mind, while others might have already had a bad experience and are scared themselves. A cop should understand they're the ones with a gun and they're the ones who need to have situational awareness when it comes to how to approach people. Some people will definitely make trouble and deserve a firm response, but in this situation, the response wasn't measured at all.
About 90 percent of police shootings wouldn't even happen if the idiot just listened to the cop.
How do you know that? And no, common sense isn't a valid answer.
