Underhill article on why the Saints O is so bleh (2 Viewers)

I believe the OC/QB still have radio capability until the QB goes into position for the snap.
Thanks for that. I'm trying to figure out who was running the show during the Falcons game last season. We went no huddle majority of that 4th quarter and I'm just trying to figure some things out with Sneaky Pete.

You noticed it, as did I, but did you have the hard data to back it up or comparison data to the rest of the league as well as our own historical data?
My only problem is they are selective when it comes to rolling out that hard data.

The lack of motion was brought up last year and Winston and Dalton were hammered because many assumed they weren't "cerebral" enough to use and diagnose from it. That notion confused me because both have a lot of experience and both are intelligent. Doesn't look like that was the reason we weren't using motion, after all.

Before this Bucs game, I was in the "if we fix the O-line issues and get Kamara back, it will start to click" thinking. Well, O-line was respectable and Kamara looks to be as good as ever, so the concern shifted a little to Carr and Carmichael has always been the consistent concern.

Boiling it down to it's simplest form, Carmichael (and Marone) have talent to work with and they are coming up woefully short. Other teams are getting way more production and success from lesser players. My hope is there will be changes this game, maybe a new play caller or at least true assessment of issues and remedies with this staff since DA is staying pat. But, to say I'm not optimistic is an understatement.
This is was I was mentioning in the other thread. We were led to believe that the majority of our offensive issues were due to the inadequacies of our QBs and like you said, they were put down by media and fans alike the "cerebral" part never made sense because motion is usually used to give a "tell" in the defense and push for mismatches. When I look at this season and the last, the one constant is Sneaky Pete. There is no way that you can convince me that since DA's and Pete's tenure at the top, they would be scoring less than the 2021 squad when we are looking at things from just a talent perspective. Before the season started, I said that I was cautiously optimistic but I did have my concerns. There is still room for optimism somewhere but it is quickly being filled with doubt.

I heard a great line from Kevin from the most recent NOF podcast. He said that it looked like PC was just calling plays because they were on his play sheet, not because of any looks or anything he saw from the defense.

One of the things I remember from the Payton era is he would specifically dial up a play because of a look he saw from the defense, or even set up a future play based on capitalizing on that look.

It doesn't seem like PC is actually paying attention to the game or the other team when he is dialing up plays. Seems like he just dials them up and rolls the dice.
