Underhill: I think everyone involved knows Carr cannot play this year at his current salary (51 Viewers)

I don' think the Saints see Carr as part of the future of this team. They would not invest heavily in an aging WR just to appease him. He is not in a position of power to dictate personnel moves at this stage in his career and position with the organization.

Okay great.

I think this is enough back and forth about a hypothetical none of us would even be in the room to see play out. Can we move on now? 😂

Probably a long shot, but not out of the question if he plays hardball.

I think this is another one of those “ML doesn’t mention it if he knows it may turn south” situations.

We are just waiting on a formal announcement at this stage.

Keep holding out hope though if you’d like. lol

LOL. I just hope you're ready to get danced on if the unthinkable happens.

I don’t think I’ve done much gloating at all about it TBH.

All I have even pointed out here is that the Saints brass, Loomis specifically, doesn’t talk this way about things that can still fall through in terms of player contracts.

But if it happens, dance away if that will make you feel better.

I’m not here to be right. I just felt like it was the right move for the team, and it appears they agreed. No real victory lap for me because I felt the move was obvious the whole time.

Seriously…go look at my posts. Where have I “gloated?”

The money is already guaranteed to Carr and he's said he won't take less. Maybe Mickey will work some magic but I don't see a pay cut happening.
Only $10m of the $40m is guaranteed until the 15th of March. If we don't do anything before then, the $30m in salary will then become guaranteed.

So if he won’t take a pay cut to help the team get better players, how will his teammates react? Will they see him as selfish, or as protecting every player’s interest (getting as much money as possible as quickly as possible)? As a fan, I would see him as selfish.

Why is it so hard to fathom that the player could have changed his mind after a level-headed sit down talk?

Not saying it is going to happen, I just think Carr’s quote should not be taken as gospel the way it has been. People change their minds and come down on demands all the time with these things.

Lol, really? I mean 2 of the last 3 posts that I read after hopping into this thread included these two lines, that's what spurred my post.

I see you’re still holding out hope that the Carr being released fantasy will come to fruition. 😂

You still have quite the mocking tone to anyone who suggests there may still be a chance at a split. And that's great, it's all in fun I'm sure, right? But that's why I said to get ready to be danced on if the unthinkable happens, that fun goes both ways. It ain't that serious, just like I'm sure you're not mocking to make yourself feel better.

I am literally just clowning around with those guys about a fact that even they know has slim odds...that's not "gloating" or a victory lap as you framed it, as if I have been on here bragging all week about being right.

I think what's more likely going on here is that you're butthurt about the decision and are now taking it out on me since I was on the other side, and you thus now view me as the enemy and anything I say about the Carr subject or the “making moves to win now” subject gets under your skin.

A quick look at your posting history shows you were adamantly against Carr and these are your first posts on the Carr subject since the decision announcement happened, so naturally you’re immediately gravitating towards this line of thinking that I have been taking a victory lap and now you’re attacking your perceived enemy on a topic you’re still sore about.

Are you okay man!? You can clown around but I can't? Like, what is actually happening? Like I said, it's not that serious. I was clowning just like you were clowning. You literally laughed at my original post and now you're actually getting serious and calling me butthurt and saying that I view you as an enemy. I'm not sure what went sideways in your head, but pump the brakes.

I just don’t like being accused of something I didn’t do. I thought you were clowning too but the implication about me being “danced on” if wrong makes it sound like you really thought I have been gloating all this time since the news came out, and to me, I have not at all.

In fact, my very first post on the subject after the news came out was to say that even though the team has made the move, it doesn’t necessarily mean I am right about it because if it turns sideways, I (and the team) will turn out to have been wrong.

I’m not here to win a guessing game, just talk ball.

I don’t think players would see him as selfish. Even if a player or players thought he was “over paid,” (hypothetically) I doubt they would expect another player to give money back.

It sounds like bad business from a player’s standpoint.
