Yeah that was my look as I read that also. Crazy.

Looks at Lion's defense with Glenn as DC
Nagy would be the worst hire we could make this go round.Nagy is an awful coach. The Bears were hot garbage under him.
If you think he's doing anything for the Chiefs. He's not. That's all Andy Reid. Nagy has a nice title right now in Kansas City but all he's doing is a similar role to when he was with the Chiefs back in 2017, which is mostly just QB communication.
Then look at the Bears. They were bad under him, and he completely fumbled Justin Fields. It's not a coincidence that Fields was trash under him, immediately goes to Mike Tomlin and plays very well.
The Bears drafts were also abysmal while he was there. And no, head coaches are in part responsible for that.
Then there's all the reports of players and others in the NFL talking about how awful Nagy is as a person and a coach.
No. Just No. This is Dennis Allen hire 2.0.
Do you trust a man who smacks when he chews gum and carries cue cards in his back pocket like he’s some scrabble magician?!?! Man couldn’t even fire a dude who lost 7 straight games. I’m done trusting or defending that dudeI might be wrong. But I think many are being too hard on Loomis. When Loomis hired Payton, it wasn't because he was the more experienced or most sought-after candidate. I thought there were better options. I believe he was a QB coach for Dallas, and he was demoted while with the Giants. But he was the one who "Wowed" Loomis the most even if he was maybe the most inexperienced.
I understand the DA hire because the thinking was that the fall-off in Payton's last year was injuries, etc. and that the train would stay on the tracks with DA. Now that that's clearly not the case, I don't think he changes from wanting to be "Wowed" rather than someone he knows. And if it is someone like AG, it will be because he gave the best interview, not because Loomis knows him.
This is me. Do not get me wrong, I don't think Loomis is terrible, he just in no way at all seems football-savvy. He is great at manipulating the numbers/cap, but his strategy is certainly catching up to him. He is not going anywhere right now, but another swing and miss as massively bad as hiring DA, and he has to go.Do you trust a man who smacks when he chews gum and carries cue cards in his back pocket like he’s some scrabble magician?!?! The definition of treading water is:
- fail to advance or make progress.
"men who are treading water in their careers"
In the 5 yrs before Mahomes became the starter Reid won ONE playoff game. He had some good to great seasons but never got past the divisional round.
The yr PM was the starter he made it to the AFCCG
What's your definition of treading water?
Again I think Reid is a very good HC but I stand by " Treading Water"
I don’t think I can handle a gum smacker and a booger eater in the same room during a press conference. Let’s not even suggest Chase DanielDavis Webb? LOL. Really? A guy who played QB as a backup who's career lasted 6 years, transitioned to QB coach for two years and now we're interviewing him for head coach? WTF are we doing? Loomis is either trolling or he's lost his marbles. Even interviewing Chase Daniels would make more sense then this guy.
Agreed with most of your post, but the bold part...many of us are already there! This is me. Do not get me wrong, I don't think Loomis is terrible, he just in no way at all seems football-savvy. I dont agree w/ that. Ireland is still over college scouting, and the personnel scouting is who found MVS, McCovern, and CEH from the scrap heap during a trying season. Loomis has plenty of people in place in front of him that are good at those things.Agreed with most of your post, but the bold part...many of us are already there!
Loomis is a numbers/financial/cap guy....even a guru. But what we're missing right now....and it's GLARINGLY OBVIOUS since Payton left, is a football/personnel guy. You need BOTH for success in the NFL, but without one of those skillsets, you're just a 1-armed boxer. And we're now seeing the results of that.
I no longer trust Loomis to self-scout and identify the problem(s). Everyone is entitled to make mistakes; I can forgive mistakes, because if you don't make 'em you're not trying hard enough. But he's made several, in succession, and continues to double down on them. I have a hard time forgiving THAT. OWN IT....and CORRECT IT!
I'm not even saying Loomis isn't capable of fixing this mess....I'm just saying I don't TRUST HIM to be capable anymore. I think a new GM would have a better chance of fixing the Saints' issues, and fixing them quicker, than Loomis. Loomis apparently isn't going anywhere, because we're hearing all kinds of chatter about HC search candidates, but nothing about GM candidates. If I can't have a new GM to usher in a new golden era of Saints football, I absolutely hope Loomis makes the right hire to fix the GLARING issues. I just don't trust that the guy who bungled it (or allowed it to get this bungled) is the best guy to fix it. Nothing more...GEAUX SAINTS!

It’s to his benefit to make the absolute best hire so he goes down as an all time great GM that steered the franchise towards success again. Hiring a loser of a coach just puts a stain on his legacy so he needs to hit this one out of the park. So that would be a win for everyone involved. If he knows or believes Glen isn’t the answer then it’s not in his best interest to hire him. Kind of does away with the narrative that he wants to control whomever he hires and he hires a yes man. I mean he could do that, but it makes him public enemy number one and taints his legacy.Exactly....that's a 0.431 (rounded UP) winning percentage with Haslett and DA under him. At some point, you have to question how much credit ML deserves. But since it surely looks like he isn't going ANYWHERE, I sincerely hope he NAILS this pick for HC and duplicates the lightning-in-a-bottle magic captured with CSP hire. If he does, I'll shut up about up. But he no longer inspires me with confidence in his ability, nor vision. JMO...
