Underhill thinks Carr will be Saints starter [mod edit: Moore-Carr meeting went well; Saints plan is to keep Carr in 2025 & figure out contract] (20 Viewers)

I've always been in favor of building the TEAM 1st because if you have a very good team then you CAN win a SB without the elite QB. But you can't win a SB with just an elite QB

Build the best , fastest race car and who drives is not as important to winning the race
This is the exact mentality on why canning Carr would be a good idea lol. 80 million saved would go a long way in building the team

With Burrow , Daniels and and Nix somewhat, you could see lot's of flashes the yr before their breakout yr. Go watch the last drive that Daniels had against FSU in 22, you could see what was to come. Everyone knew about the potential of Williams , Maye and Penix before last yr.

I don't see anyone that will be in next yrs draft that will make the Burrow, Daniels , Nix kind of jump. So we may be in the same type of QB situation that we are this yr. A bigger crap-shoot than this yr

I've been very critical of Nuss at LSU, but he does have a lot of talent and he has flashed some serious playmaking ability. His biggest issues are that he tries to force the ball deep too often which often results in him holding the ball too long and getting sacked or in him throwing a bad interception. His accuracy can also be inconsistent. But, those things are all coachable so he could end up taking a big leap. I don't expect him to be in the Burrow or Daniels category but I could see him as a mid-first round pick. And with the way the NFL needs QBs, a mid-first round QB can quickly become a top 5 pick.

Anyway, there is also Drew Allar at Penn State that could develop. There are probably others that could take the leap, but I don't follow that stuff closely.

But, no doubt it's a crap shoot this year. Ward is by far the best prospect. Sanders is more of a late first or early second guy. And then there are a bunch that could go either way like Dart, McCord, and Ewers.

Yeah it’s wild ain’t it? It’s almost as if yet another NFL coach has watched extensive film to form actual educated judgments of the player and concluded he’s worth committing to as a starting QB, even if only short term.

I will just never see what makes this player so bad in some people’s eyes. He’s by no way perfect or elite, but he’s also not the absolute worst QB on the planet the way people talk about him. I’d even say he’s better than average. I’m confident every time he drops back.

I pretty much agree on Carr, but I do want an open QB competition when TC starts....on the other hand maybe KM saw enough on film on Rattler to think he isn't an NFL starter right now, right now I'm going to trust KM's judgement on the matter....

The thing is that I don't think the Commanders did that on purpose. They were just that bad.

And the other problem is that tanking is no guarantee that you get that Jayden Daniels type QB. Many teams have tried and failed. Look at Cleveland, the Bears, and the Jets. Even Detroit was down for like 30 years of tanking.

Actually during the 2 decades plus of sucking the Commanders drafted a QB in the 1st round 4 times (and once in the 2nd) and they drafted a QB almost every other year.....no guarantees indeed.....

The NFL game played very differently back then. The rules were different, the plays that work well now had even lower success rates back then. Rules back then favored defenses more so than now, and rules now favor offenses more so than back then.

I personally don't have any hope for Rattler as a QB1. I didn't see any sign of strong defensive reads and a strong lack of pocket presence. To put it plainly, he looked like a younger, far more athletic Jameis Winston but with less pocket presence. (Edit addition) : The more I think on it, the more I think Winston read defenses a bit better as well.

I still have hope for Rattler, I mean, he was a rookie QB thrown into a terrible situation with an awful HC....I don't think you can make a meaningful evaluation of him based on that....but we will see what KM thinks of Rattler soon enough....

Yup. Look at this way, by May 1st 2026, we will have a definitive showing. Until then, regardless of what happens there's always going to be speculation, opinion and desire voiced from fans. But by the forementioned date, the writing will be incredibly clearly written in, on, and around the wall.
