That should have clearly been seen as a way of joking with you saying he disagreed with your point in that thread. It’s a pretty common way of saying “you’re wrong” in a funny way.

Of course context is key. If you’re talking to a woman about a serious topic and you aren’t really close to her, saying that would be offensive. When you’re talking about unserious topics then it would be considered funny because of the contrast of the silliness of the topic

There's a large number of Canadians living here in Mérida. The ones I've met, to the person, everyone has a horror story about the Canadian healthcare system.

It may have its flaws - nothing is perfect but the critical consideration is that people won’t be bankrupted or die from that system or unable to seek proper care because they can’t afford their deductible/OOP. expense.
