I was struck by the recent online comments by particularly Nick Underhill and by Mike Triplett over the Saints' search for a head coach. Two comments by Underhill in the last 24 hours on his X platform. "The Saints can no longer hide from how they're viewed by people around the league." And an earlier post: "The Saints are not an attractive destination right now." Presumably, the comments seem in part the result of Aaron Glenn and Joe Brady not even giving the team the courtesy of an in-person interview given their past associations with the organization. And I am struck that an interview with Mike McCarthy has not been firmly scheduled.

Admittedly, I no longer subscribe to New Orleans Football, so I do not know what Underhill has been writing about the organization over the past nine months. I have found that in the past he was reluctant to challenge in a fundamental way Loomis's management of the team.

These comments are important not because of what they say but who is saying them. If Underhill and Triplett are becoming increasingly critical of the team's front office, then their comments may have the effect of giving permission to the media as a whole to be more critical. Something to keep an eye on.

It's the truth; the local corporate media is afraid to ask serious questions. What is he supposed to lie about? Our situation is objectively worse than any of the other openings, and it looks like we're about to hire Rizzi or throw a boatload of money at Mike. Do you think this job is better than the Cowboys currently? We may be better than LV, but that's about it.

It’s not that they’re being negative… The dismal state of the Saints organization is undeniably horrendous!

Whoever they settle on for HC… at this point, my money would be on Rizzi and then maybe Kafka… it doesn’t matter. The new HC will be set up to fail, and likely be gone after 3 more gut-wrenching seasons.

Loomis has led this organization into the toilet. The only option is to flush it all, and then wait for the stink to dissipate.

This whole scenario could be a matter of the Saints being sold on Rizzi. Frankly, I think he will get the gig. The player endorsements have likely played a role in the decision.

Not to be an apologist but is it not within the realm of possibility that Joe Brady didn’t crack the top 5 in the first round of interviews, and the Saints let him know they weren’t pursuing a second interview? And during that conversation they suggested that he pull himself from the search publicly to insure his value as a potential coaching candidate doesn’t take a hit via rejection? Is it not a better look to withdrawal from consideration to focus on the mission at hand vs sorry didn’t make the cut? If the Saints aren’t overly concerned about their outward media appearance, and are more concerned about doing the right thing by those they deal with on a personal level, this seems like a plausible if not probable scenario.

There is a strange turn of agendas going on. Underpants went from rizzi interview is impressive to sky is falling cause muh Joe Brady declined the interview ( probably not even knowing the real reason why declined) but skipped straight to theatrical drama. Meanwhile whiffed on the “Glenn mischaracterization” underpants is on the outside and he’s mad.

There's not way to spin Brady positively. At least Glenn there was an excuse. And combination of the two, having ties to the Saints and both being like nah fam I'm good. That's a terrible look.

They need to get interviews with McCarthy and Moore. Hell even if McCarthy wants to take the year off if I'm Loomis I'm begging him to at least interview just for the optics.

Not firing Allen after that first year wrecked this franchise. Learning more and more about what happened with Grantham, like what in the absolute hell was going on with this team?

Don't you know the only options are where the Saints look the worst? The dude doesn't look like HC material right now and people here are losing their shirt over him.

It’s difficult to spin the Brady “rejection” another way. Glenn’s ties to the Jets make his decision understandable. So, where is the McCarthy situation? If that falls through, the team is in serious trouble, as in changes need to be made immediately IMHO.

McCarthy taking the job means nothing in these terms. But him turning it down means everything. He never received any other offers and only interviewed with one other team that immediately hired Ben Johnson as soon as the chance became available.

McCarthy is at point where its either us, or nothing. He'll likely accept and if he'd rather wait a year, that just means we've flown so far off the rails its probably best to just sell the team.

Joe Brady declined a virtual interview with the Jets. Therefore, Saints > Jets, right?
The Saints are not the only team an HC candidate declined to meet with, Ben Johnson declined to meet with teams, Cohen declined the Jags job resigned with the Bucs then declined the Bucs and signed with the Jags, I'm not sure why people are taking things do personal when it's us

It’s also very possible AG talked to Brady nd told him he would be an idiot to risk the beginning of his career on Mickey Loomis!
