Unusual criticism from NOF and Underhill (2 Viewers)

This is what I'm going with!!!!!!

TBH, sounds like Brady wants at least another year with the Bills....

I think he sees a chance to make multiple superbowl runs combined with the idea that whatever coach comes to the saints right now are not going to be put in position to succeed for at least a year or two.

Regarding Joe Brady, several possibilities. Did he believe his chances were small and wanted to end all speculation with a possible Super Bowl appearance looming? Possible.

And I realize this thread is ultimately about a perception of a perception. But the perception of the team in league circles does matter because it means our choices for a new head coach are more limited than we would have hoped and it is an indication that the state of the organization is not good.

And if McCarthy is very much interested in the Saints job (though I find the lack of a firm date for his interview baffling), do stories that the Saints organization is not held in high esteem any longer increase the chances of our hiring the highest-profile candidate, Mike McCarthy?

Nick has said on several pods that Brady was his top choice. He wanted them to take a chance on a young offensive minded OC. He has also said that he thought AG was the smart and safest choice. Triplett has also been a big AG fan on there pods.

So basically the two coaching candidates that the NOF team thought we be the best picks told the Saints no, I think Nick looks at this as a big negative for the team and not sure that he is wrong.

Also said that they Saints can still get the right coach in and while I agree with him that the Saints are not a highly desirable coaching choice, there is still hope Loomis can find the right guy.

Brady is young and shrewd. He makes a lot of media plays. Payton hated him - probably reminded him of himself.

Q) What if Brady knew he wasn’t getting the job ? Would he interview for it again ?

A) No. given his MO. He’d decline the interview. Leak it everywhere and make himself look good and make the Saints look bad.

Q) What if he knew who was getting the job ?
How would he know ?

A) who’s his agent ? Let’s say he had the same agent as another candidate ( or some other mutual connection I guess )

Saints look really bad. But he likely wasn’t getting the job anyway and he knew it.

It's certainly possible, it's also maybe not what happened at all, I don't claim to know....

Not firing Allen after that first year wrecked this franchise. Learning more and more about what happened with Grantham, like what in the absolute hell was going on with this team?
This is the truth. It was clear he wasn’t the answer but he beat a couple of bad teams late in the year and apologized to the Falcons so Loomis was lazy and just rolled with it. He’s a failure.

I was struck by the recent online comments by particularly Nick Underhill and by Mike Triplett over the Saints' search for a head coach. Two comments by Underhill in the last 24 hours on his X platform. "The Saints can no longer hide from how they're viewed by people around the league." And an earlier post: "The Saints are not an attractive destination right now." Presumably, the comments seem in part the result of Aaron Glenn and Joe Brady not even giving the team the courtesy of an in-person interview given their past associations with the organization. And I am struck that an interview with Mike McCarthy has not been firmly scheduled.

Admittedly, I no longer subscribe to New Orleans Football, so I do not know what Underhill has been writing about the organization over the past nine months. I have found that in the past he was reluctant to challenge in a fundamental way Loomis's management of the team.

These comments are important not because of what they say but who is saying them. If Underhill and Triplett are becoming increasingly critical of the team's front office, then their comments may have the effect of giving permission to the media as a whole to be more critical. Something to keep an eye on.
Ole Nick. Butt hurt that his number 1 guy isn’t a candidate anymore. I love Nick’s stuff, but his spoiled ways at times when things don’t go the way he sees is comical.

Glenn did not turn us down, he was never offered the job. The Jets brought him in with an intention of not letting him leave the building and giving him everything he wanted. Far different from telling a team you’re not interested.

You’re correct these guys almost never criticize unless it’s approved or apparent. Something is going on.

The Saints might be taking their time in hiring Mike McCarthy because they don't want the Cowboys to accuse them of tampering...

If McCarthy wants the job, I think increasingly he is the choice. The waters are suddenly becoming turbulent. I think Loomis wants to quiet them for a period, and a McCarthy hiring would do that, though only for short term unless the Saints win quickly.

If McCarthy is not the choice, whether because he does not want the job or the Saints do not favor him, I see the hire being Weaver, Kafka or Rizzi. I personally did not think that Brady had the resume or the maturity to be head coach. Much of Brady's appeal was Burrow's last year at LSU. But that year, the Tigers had perhaps the most talented offense in the history of college football. Kellen Moore also does not excite me. May be a good offensive coordinator. But the demands, and the personal traits necessary, for being a successful head coach are very different from those of an OC.

Mikey, I don't understand the tampering theory. First, I don't believe the Saints would tamper after seeing how the league reacted to Miami tampering with Payton. I think the league, especially with the victim team being Dallas, would come down hard on the Saints, and the Saints know that. Second, I doubt that McCarthy wanted to leave Dallas--especially without a firm commitment from the Saints that he would definitely be their choice--and I don't think the Saints at any time have been 100 percent committed to McCarthy. Third, I know that Loomis's son has worked for some time in the personnel department in Dallas--and his last name certainly helped him gain employment with the Cowboys. Any tampering charge might implicate Loomis's son, which would adversely affect his job in Dallas and his reputation in the league.

Its kinda crazy that the guy who wasn't even expected to be on the Market is pretty much your last hail mary this cycle unless Kellen Moore blows them away if he sticks with interviewing.

Most were shocked McCarthy basically forced his way outta there, rumors stem from not getting enough control or being forced to train his replacement(Witten).

It is almost like, keeping Loomis on has consequences and only Mrs. Gayle can't see it.
