Unusual criticism from NOF and Underhill (2 Viewers)

The Saints might be taking their time in hiring Mike McCarthy because they don't want the Cowboys to accuse them of tampering...

Definitely an odd vibe around this entire pursuit. It’s like we are going out of our way to slow play it, make it look like there’s limited interest. We also seem to be going out of our way to make him the last interview no matter what.

Perhaps the rumor of him intentionally nudging his way out to come to New Orleans has legs?

Maybe Brady couldnt get some key coaches to come with him and felt like he wasnt ready to take on a challenge like the Saints without them?
We want a fearless guy. The fact that he was considering the state of the team, tells me he only has belief in himself, IF the team has a ton of cap and an elite QB1. We don’t want the scared guy anyway. This is a blessing. We want the guy that when all of the chips are down, has a way of banding the team together even more. Harbaugh and Gruden wouldn’t be afraid. They’d know that they themselves can at least make them winners, long enough so, they eventually find their Qb1. What happens with fearful guys like Brady and Glenn, fate will throw them curves to test their mettle, which they’ll fall flat, or dig deep. I’d rather the guy that is confident digging deep, than the guy that’s terrified to be challenged. So good riddance to those types.

I'm a big supporter of Nick and I think he has a point that the situation looks bad for the team, but I also think his article is a bit of an overreaction when Moore, McCarthy, and even Kafka and Weaver are still on the board. It doesn't really matter what the rest of the NFL thinks of our roster or if Brady turned us down because he didn't like the roster or he knew he wasn't getting the job because all that really matters is will the next HC turn things around and start winning. The rest is just noise and fodder for talk shows, blogs, and stories.

And Nick has even admitted that McCarthy really might be the best choice and that he keeps forgetting that Moore is a serious candidate, but he would just rather swing for the fences with Brady. So I don't see how ending up with Moore or McCarthy should result in this level of reaction. But, as you said, Nick is susceptible to emotion like the rest of us and some part of me wonders if some of this is him getting tired of getting yelled at for being too positive or realizing that negativity sells in a time when there aren't a lot of positives.
Of course it’s an overreaction. There’s a whole thread where Underhill is quoted as saying “McCarthy is the favorite” at the beginning of the process.

If McCarthy was/is the preference from the very beginning, how on earth did we come to the point where an article pointing out we got turned down by coaches who were presumably never favorites is taken seriously as anything but its writer succumbing to the fan narrative he worked so hard to avoid?

It’s utterly ridiculous. There are multiple fire loomis threads all worded differently and it’s making it hard to enjoy the board. We’re having the same preposterous dialogue in every one of them.

No one has to engage with content that makes them upset.

That's pretty much what is being told to the people that want to move on from Loomis. "Get used to it, because it(he) isn't going away". Not until the winning starts.

We really should just let people cry as much as they want to. It's cathartic.

If that is the case then I am in agreement with you. One thing that is certain in the NFL, everyone faces some sort of adversity every season. The truth rises to the top quick in the NFL about character.

I don't get why Underhill is polarizing to some of you.

Yeah, I don't trust sports reporters. One by one I see them go down this road. I watch their free stuff but would never subscribe to them. Been burned too many times. I've seen this happen too often and don't want to support it. Sensationalism sales apparently, not for me though. Give me the news, not your "expert opinion". If it all crashes down we can look back, but don't count your chickens before they're hatched, then act like it never happened.

There's not way to spin Brady positively. At least Glenn there was an excuse. And combination of the two, having ties to the Saints and both being like nah fam I'm good. That's a terrible look.

They need to get interviews with McCarthy and Moore. Hell even if McCarthy wants to take the year off if I'm Loomis I'm begging him to at least interview just for the optics.

Not firing Allen after that first year wrecked this franchise. Learning more and more about what happened with Grantham, like what in the absolute hell was going on with this team?
Well it could be that Brady doesn't want to jump in yet as a HC and instead remain as OC for another season or two. Plus is there any other team reaching out to Brady? None that I know of. I think there's too much reading into that.

Now I'll criticize Loomis for promoting Allen in the 1st place rather than bringing in a new HC from the outside. Than sticking with him until you have the train wreck we have now.

McCarthy taking the job means nothing in these terms. But him turning it down means everything. He never received any other offers and only interviewed with one other team that immediately hired Ben Johnson as soon as the chance became available.

McCarthy is at point where its either us, or nothing. He'll likely accept and if he'd rather wait a year, that just means we've flown so far off the rails its probably best to just sell the team.
CMON MAN !!! In my (Chris Carter) voice Why would you even say something like this. This team is all we have so why would you suggest they sell them away from us ? Make it make sense. 🤷🏽‍♂️

You don't own the team. And a new owner could mean good things just as easily as it could mean bad things. What if Drew Brees went in with a billionaire for ownership similar to Tom Brady and the Raiders. You think that would result to anything bad?

And the team is going to sell in the next decade or two anyways when Gayle passes. She's 78 as of yesterday. It doesn't matter when the team sells. We as fans just gotta hope whoever buys it is a fan of New Orleans, wants to win and knows how to.
