Unusual criticism from NOF and Underhill (6 Viewers)

Mike Kafka and Kellen Moore are still in the mix.
I think I would really like it if they gave Moore a chance. He was a good OC in Dallas and they just fell off after he left, and I think what he has done in Philly with Hurts and Barkley is a bright spot. Kind of hard to deny he's a great offensive mind, just don't know if he has the intangibles to make a good HC, but I think it would be worth taking the risk if he is up to the challenge.

I wouldn't mind it if we did it on day 2. We're in too awkward of a spot in round 1 for him I think, unless he absolutely blows away the Senior Bowl, combine, etc.
100% day 2 pick. I really think he can be the next Jalen Hurts-style player. Moore knows at this point how to design an offense for that type of QB, which Rattler is similar too.

I don't know how anyone watches today's NFL and doesn't want a mobile quarterback at this point.
It's been part of the evolution of the pro game. Pass rushers have gotten so good that it's no longer realistic to expect an offensive line to consistently maintain a clean pocket for four seconds and change. The QB's own running skills, these days, is part of what keeps pass rushers off-balance -- charge too hard, and you're giving the mobile QB an easy outlet around the formation to a big rushing gain. Sometimes a team has to spy a good rushing QB -- that's one less guy available in either the pass rush or pass coverage. Needless to say, it's changed the game.

Milroe is not a guy I would take with a high pick or the expectation that he is going to play QB, but if someone does teach him how to be a competent pocket passer, he could be amazing. But I think he needs a lot more work as a passer than Jackson needed when he came out and I'm not sure he can be fixed.

I think we can get Milroe later in the draft. Milroe had a better completion percentage and QBR in college, playing better defenses than Jackson. Jackson did have superior rushing numbers.

Hiring Moore may very well increase the odds that we draft Jeanty (Boise St. connection, Moore's recent success with Barkley).

Or he may want to build an OL or DL like Philly has. I would hope that any coach would want to draft the best guy they can get at any position given our current roster, but that could be Jeanty depending on who is on the board. Then again, Moore was a dominant QB at Boise State who was a journeyman in the NFL so maybe he will be more cognizant of the different between being dominant playing against a Mountain West schedule as opposed to against a schedule for teams in bigger/better conferences?

True, but Milroe also had much better WR talent, a dominant OL, great rushing attack, and a defense that allowed them to not put him in bad situations as a passer. Jackson really didn't have that in college. He was essentially a one man show at Louisville.

You could see Jackson making some of the required throws in the NFL. I didn't see much of that from Milroe.

Still, in the situation we are in, I'm fine with taking a shot at him in the 3rd or lower. If nothing else, he can do some of the Taysom Hill stuff as the Wildcat QB and running Read Option.

I wonder if the coach they select is an indicator of what we do at QB. MM would indicate we roll with Carr. Moore indicates we go another direction.
I wouldn't read too much into it because if you want to do anything in FA then it's a safe bet Carr will be on this roster for another year. Then jettison him next year kind of like Payton did with Russel Wilson.

I saw Shanle post the other day that we're like $60 million under the cap in 2026 and $221 million in 2027. I don't think we need to do a radical cap reset to clear things up, we'll burn some of that with restructures but we can still come out pretty clean.

Bama fan but.. I don't think Milroe develops into the next Lamar Jackson. I honestly don't remember Lamar as a pastor in college very well but.. Milroe has a ways to go.
