UPDATE: BI Likely to be Traded[Pel's Media expect a big push to move in Ingram in Early August] (2 Viewers)

The problem with Ingram isn't that he doesn't get 3pt looks....the problem is that he kept passing up open 3pt shots last season to dribble into the mid-range which resulted in contested 2pt shots. Check the stats....in his first 2 seasons he shot over 6 attempts a game. In the past 2 seasons he is shooting less than 4 per game and last season he only made 35.5% (compared to CJ who attempted 8.4 a game and made 43%).

Plus I have yet to see anybody who wants BI in the starting lineup address the fit and spacing issues. You can't just focus on BI....you have to look at the entire offense. What do you think the starting lineup should be? Who is/are your offball specialists from long range? Plus who are your ball handlers off the bench?

I love having BI here.....I hope he comes into training camp shooting like he did in year two with us but you can't just assume the outlier season will happen. The facts are that the last 3 seasons as a whole he has been pedestrian at 3 pt attempts and percentage and I saw him pass up open 3s fairly frequently last year.
I disagree that Ingram won't take more 3s, and I don't think there's any chance he goest to the bench.

Like I said....I hope he does (and that his percentage is better than the last 3 seasons). I just don't think it's safe to assume that he will reverse course from the past 3 seasons. Not saying it can't happen, just that the odds are against it. He literally is averaging 1.3 made 3s a game over the past 3 seasons.

So just for the sake of argument, what is your opinion if he still won't take more than 3 or 4 a game and only hits 35% like his recent seasons? How does the offense work like that? What lineup do you think will be out there and what are our facilitators on the bench? These are questions that need to be considered.

You added a point guard that can make a entry pass so when he wants to post up like Kobe he doesn’t have to do so much to get to the actual spot

You added a point guard that can shoot 3 pointers if going off of his stats last year as well as finish strong or pull up essentially a 3 level scorer with high iq

Herb shot over 40 percent last year and probably will be even better next year also a threat to cut won’t just settle for 3 pointers

Zion will do his thing still with hopefully less hesitancy to take some jumpers putting up a average I say of 17 attempts a game
Our bigs when in would be pick and pop guys
If Trey gets the nod over cj you can count on his 30 ft jumpers
If cj starts you can expect 8 3pt attempts a game and wayyyyy less dribbling or initiating on offense

Can’t wait for the season to start so the speculation can slow down and we can judge from the play

Jose Alvarado will be our pg off the bench all he does is show up

I remember Dallas didn’t believe in Brunson now he’s taking his team further than we’ve been with Zion and Brandon

Real championship teams have a solid rotation of 8/9 players we don’t need greatness from 1-15
Zion DJM brandon herb cj Trey Alvarado Big T and Mak daddy Hawkins need to eat more before he can be considered

I honestly can't imagine CJ starting given our current lineup. Murray takes plenty of 3s. Ingram will be the beneficiary of passes from him, so undoubtably he'll be taking more 3s. There's a very fine line from 35% to 40% efficiency. I'd bet more on an Ingram % increase on both quantity and efficiency AND a CJ regression on 3pt efficiency (he's also not efficient really at anything else).

Why is that?
Because he averaged that last year and with the amount of offensive talent he will have around him he’s the least likely to ever be doubled
(besides herb)

teams will try to stick to him but as a veteran and good off ball player I expect for him to create open looks for his self just off of movement along the perimeter

You're right on that...I was a bit confused.
CJ would be at his best as just a spot up shooting guard for sure.

Just to reiterate I'm not anti-BI. My opinion is just based on what he has done the last 3 seasons. If he can reduce his dribbling and efficiently shoot from 3 with more volume....more catch and shoot...I would love to see it. Obviously he is better on defense than CJ and if we are playing Zion at the 5 at times his length would be far more useful on the defensive side

Physical defenders, even somewhat physical defenders, take BI out of his game and throws the offense out of sync. and results in repeated bad possessions. when he's bigger or defenses don't get physical with him, he's ok.

There could be an issue with too many high volume players on the court at once. Will be up to Willie to find a way to balance the lineups properly.

Great defenders can do that to most players. People are focusing too much on the playoff series where BI was asked to carry the (Zion-less) load (what was CJ's excuse for not being defended in an elite way? He was arguably far worse than Ingram). If a team chooses to shut down BI in a future playoff series (assuming he's on our team), then that'll just open up things for Zion, Murray, Trey etc. Too many weapons and you can't stop everyone.

Plus we don't know if BI was completely healed from his injury...the whole team pretty much sheet the bed in that series.

On the one hand, I like that BI has that quiet workman attitude much like Marques Colston, but at some point you need your premier guy on the court to rally the troops and get more out of the team. For me to want to pay a max contract, the player either needs to be elite OR at the very least a borderline All Star who makes the people around him better.

If there are no major roster changes, CJ has to come off the bench. At least now it clearly makes sense. He was never going to swap with Trey to come off the bench and I wouldn't agree with that either. Now with Dejounte running point, it makes sense to me and should make sense to him. That also fills a hole I've felt this team was missing the past few years. A legitimate self creating scorer to lead the 2nd unit. Plus Trey plus Jose.

If you have Zion, BI, Dejounte, and CJ all on the same team, you can mask a lot of issues with that offensive firepower. The center spot remains a huge ??? but the talent around that gaping hole is top quarter with bench scoring. Just need Karlo and Theis to put up a decent fight in the paint.

I remain in shock that we didn't solve our gaping problem at 5, but I like our other talent and I'd rather have BI than accept a terrible trade for a mediocre center. I suppose I'll just have to pray for Karlo to shock the world.

They are probably gonna try to start CJ to begin the year and "see" if it works. I mean... You know it won't work, but that's Willie Green for you.
