USMNT - ‘23 and beyond (2 Viewers)

I wouldn't say he is "super raw", I would say inexperienced (which you certainly alluded to), he knows where to be most of the time and I think he changed the flow of the game a bit, with experience in a few years he will still only be 21-22, I think he has a chance to make a real impact in 2026.....

At least pretty raw. He has the attitude and strength. Going from the u20s to this C level side leaves a lot to be proven still. I think he deserves the start going forward on this roster, but while he did open the game up.....he left too many opportunities on the field once he set himself up for a cross or shot. He is linked to quite a few CL sides in europe. No doubt trending up after the u20wc and the gold cup.

But no doubt, the kid is fun to watch.

As much as I hate to say this, @efil4stnias is right.

He’s very tall, so that helps - but he also must really do his homework bc he seems to predict a lot of shots

And I didn’t notice it last night, but he has a good technique/hack where he takes a step backwards and then launches himself slightly forward- seemingly it gives him a better angle

In a few years time, one of us will be right.....

Our front line is pretty well set outside of potential injuries for 2026. Pulisic/Reyna/Weah with Balo up top seems tough to crack. Berhalter just doesnt seem to like Reyna, at all really, but especially central in the attack -so it remains to be seen if Berhalter will go against what his (and everyone elses) eyes told him in the nations league. Theres no excuse for Reyna to not be central going forward, even Pulisic agrees with that. Berhalter wont make it through next summer if he doesnt fix himself on everything Gio Reyna.

But Cowell also has to get to Europe and then the next man up on the wing is......? We just dont have a ton of depth there. Aaronson is probably next in line, but he needs to fix himself this season at UB.

i dont look at it from a standpoint of being right.

As US fans, we have a consistent tendency to "anoint" a player WELL before that player has had the ability to round out his game. Dude is 19. Hasnt seen major competition at an elite level, with consistency, yet. Lets see where he is 2 years from now. IF he is THAT good, he would already be in Europe instead of San Jose- and in 31 appearances with SJ, he has 3 goals. THREE. So all im saying is pump the brakes. If he was "that guy" - he would already be showing off his talent abroad.

Look no further than Pepi- raw talent works in the Gold Cup - but i bet Pepi would tell you that he is still attempting to add the finishing touches to his game. Let them find thier way, then play and we can see what happens.

No kidding....I'm just saying that Cowell may turn out to be "a good problem to have".....of course he has to mature, improve, grow, I'm simply arguing the potential is there....I just don't think he is as "raw" as some others do....

Totally agree on Berhalter/Reyna.....I have little faith that Berhalter won't screw this massively talented team up some how (massively talented for a US squad)....but injuries happen and Cowell very well could be the next man up by then....we will see....
