Vehicle plows into crowd on Bourbon St., with 14 fatalities (3 Viewers)

Yeah, hard to believe. I wonder if there are other angles. I'm sure there are other security cameras scattered across Burbon and of course people pulling out their phones.

And I'm sure we'll see body camera footage of the shootout with the police.
I have it. You see my brother getting hit. Not sure if I could post it. It’s not graphic, you can delete if want.

There must be. Those were the ones I was waiting to see, how he got from Canal onto Bourbon.

A complete aside, why does Carondolet end at Canal and then Bourbon picks up on the FQ side? That just always confuses me.

Looks like he turned from Canal to entrance of Bourbon which usually isn't blocked off by any serious barricades.

Canal at Bourbon has bollards which are big metal polls that retract into the ground so that they can let traffic through during the day. They exist all the way down Bourbon on the intersections. Some of the bollards were being repaired in preparation for the Super Bowl. I'm not sure if the bollards on Canal and Bourbon were up or if they were being repaired. But, there normally isn't an NOPD car blocking Bourbon on most nights. So I don't know if the car was there because the bollards were being repaired or if it was just extra security. WDSU New Orleans is reporting the bollards were down to be repaired for the Super Bowl, but I don't know if that has yet been confirmed.

Either way, the bollards would not have stopped this guy since he went up on the sidewalk. There has never to my knowledge ever been anything blocking the sidewalks on Bourbon and Canal or any other intersection with Bourbon.

My guess is that the result of this will be that the French Quarter becomes essentially exclusively pedestrian. Maybe they will allow residents to drive on the streets and/or delivery trucks but it is going to be severely restricted and the general public will not be able the drive in the Quarter.

The officer exited and pursued pretty quickly
I wonder how close he got to him. The guy was going super fast and got 3 blocks.

@Krodwhodat , do you know where your brother was patrolling/stationed at that time?

This is a sign of the times and something we never even had to think about until recently. The world is so much more dangerous today than it was 20 or so years ago.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I automatically assumed domestic terrorism. With the number of mass shootings in this country, when I hear about terrorism on American soil I automatically think domestic.
Some people on here just wanted to deny it was terrorism simply because it came from Cantrell's mouth. And I've never been a fan of hers. I personally couldn't care less how the NCAA or NFL takes it.
