Vehicle plows into crowd on Bourbon St., with 14 fatalities (42 Viewers)

Just to give an update. My brother is doing good. I was able to speak to him. He’s a little out of it but doing good. Still has a long way to go but he should get there. On a sad note my wife’s best friend for 40 years, her son was on Bourbon and was hit by the truck. He is in critical condition. Rough day for the Krodwhodat family.
Dang, man. Hoping for the best and that everything turns out well.

Or that this guy, in losing his sheet, became depressed and possibly got radicalized by Islamic fundamentalists somehow at some point and then decided to do some truly terrible things on innocent people just enjoying themselves on New Years Day.

I agree it wasnt particularly too well-planned but murderous idealogical idiots can still kill or injure people even if their plans aren't that well thought out.
I said it earlier, when I posted the divorce docs- the dude was probably pushed to the brink when he got strapped financially due to paying child support. It's been said on one of the news channel, dude was being foreclosed on and was in financial ruin.

It's also been said he was violent with his ex. There's something circulating where in his ride to New Orleans from Houston he recorded ramblings. One where he wanted to gather his ex and family up and kill them all.

All of this, plus other factors, made for him to more than likely seek radicalization.

I totally get that. The talking heads on TV are saying it's a well planned attack. I don't see that.

Secondary explosives prepositioned indicate a planned attack. I suspect the intent was to make it all the way to the explosives and detonate everything at once while officers respond. It'd be difficult to practice driving high speed down NO streets over humans and around all the obstacles so likely the crash stopped a much worse event.

One of the victims, Tiger Bech. Older brother to Jack Bech (LSU wr ( now TCU , that came with Nuss) and nephew to to Brett Bech.

Another is a single mom from Metairie who just recieved a promotion at her job last week.

Ugh.

It's horrible. We need to pray for the first responders who cared and is caring for these victims as well.

Then there's this.

Part of the tragedy in all this is the youth of the victims. Lord have mercy.

He’s dead so I guess we may never know… but what did he think was going to happen when he went barreling down Bourbon street on one of the biggest party nights of the year? If the intent was to blow some ish up in a coordinated attack, you go down there quietly and inconspicuously. If you go barreling down the street running people over with cops literally everywhere, there’s a high probability your plan will be foiled. Like clearly this was not well thought out nor mitigations for risks considered at all.

I mean, I’m glad that his plan was foiled & that he got lit up, as it would have ended much worse but sometimes I just wonder if these criminals put any thought into their plans at all.
I guess what I’m getting at is that I feel like most of these fools must want to be caught because they are not thinking these things out or covering their tracks at all. We literally know who people are within a day of them committing a crime or they end up getting killed in the act.
