This is a good take, but I would argue teams are now understanding you probably need to invest in both, a top QB AND a top pass catcher to have a chance to really compete. Other positions can be cycled thru much easier in terms of cost and availability.WR salaries are just out of hand. Great for him, but I would almost prefer cycling through WRs every 4-5 years and trading a really good one. That salary is OK for the Vikings because they have a rookie QB, but most teams cannot afford that for a WR with a top QB as well.
Not sure I agree. WRs have become more plentiful in recent drafts. A lot of money needs to be invested in pass rushers and CBs as well as solid offensive lineman. I do not see WRs as on the same scale of need and difficulty to acquire as those. This is a good take, but I would argue teams are now understanding you probably need to invest in both, a top QB AND a top pass catcher to have a chance to really compete. I’m dreading the day we have to pay Chris Olave
That's why you need to draft WRs early...they were getting bargain basement value out of an immediate impact position on his rookie deal.
But yeah...lets keep drafting linemen
