26. Da 'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
The Saints apparently had their sights on Jerry Hughes in the 2010 NFL Draft before the Colts snatched him off the board one pick beforehand. New Orleans has only 10 sacks through five games, so they may target a defensive end at the bottom of the first round.

Da'Quan Bowers is a really athletic defensive end who is finally starting to put it together. If he continues to play well, he'll continue to rise in my 2011 NFL Mock Draft.

58. Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon St.
You have to dig around to find a glaring weakness on the Saints roster. Perhaps the only prevalent one is at defensive tackle next to Sedrick Ellis.

83. Mason Foster, OLB, Washington
The Saints acquired this pick from the Redskins in the Jammal Brown trade.

Scott Shanle has struggled since playing well in the opener. The Saints need an upgrade.

90. Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise St.
The Saints have a bunch of expiring contracts this March at safety, so they might look for depth in the middle rounds of the 2011 NFL Draft

3 defensive tackles on the roster and a bottom feeding run defense......im pretty sure we have a bigger need than DE and OLB

Well he does have us drafting a DT in the 2nd. And considering DT's take about 3 years to develop that's a position I'd look for us to address in FA. Altough I am a big Jurrell Casey fan and he goes the pick after us.

IMO we'll go offense with at least one of those picks, possibly 2.

It is way to early in the season for a mock draft. I can see rating college players by position and possible draft position (1,2,3...) but certainly not designating them to particular teams. Not at this point.

Id be so happy if we drafted Jeron Johnson. As a BSU fan, I can say, he can "bring the wood." & Hard. He has made some unbelievable hits and plays well in the box as Boise runs a 4-2-5. He also is decent in coverage , especially at reading the quarterback. He has made some great plays in coverage over the passed few years. Although, I can admit, he has some behavioral issues. Mostly with him taking out a WR in 08' against Oregon and getting kicked out...and then the Late Hit on Masoli that knocked him out for the year.

we really havent made big splashes in free agency. we dont go out of our way to bring in free agents and pressing needs gotta be addressed

we will probably take a running back this year since our running backs health hasnt been so great

and why is it too early to talk about the draft? i think its best to get an idea of possible prospects as early as possible that way you can watch them or at least look for them on saturdays when college teams actually play. its hard to watch those kids play after the season is over and you are going off highlight videos

300 lbs or bust. Either an OT, or Center(only if we're in the 20s which we should be) and he's very good). DE would be good.

I'm pretty sure they know it too. Trick is, they're doing it because that's what Walterfootball does and they're just having a little fun with it. I do see what you're saying though. If they were being serious about it, I'd say no mock drafting before not seniors declare.

/that and agents paying off Kiper to raise the players they just signed up on his big board.

I'm not talking a big splash kind of guy but more under the radar kind of guy. We always fill needs in FA (Greer and Sharper) and then go BPA/need in the draft. This year we shouldn't have any restrictions like last year and we should be able to sign anyone. An example of a guy who I think we will pursue in FA is Barry Cofield.

I'm going to assume this wasn't towards me because I never think it's to early for draft talk. My reasoning is exactly the same as yours, so I can watch them on Saturdays.

unfortunately we didnt really address to many big needs in free agency or the draft this year. im kind of disappointed in the teams effort to try and repeat or at least keep building during the offseason

i dont agree that it takes 3 years for players to develop. some players get it right off the bat and some players cant. but to simply lump them all together and say that DTs take 3 years to develop is bein way too generic

i think that putting a talented DT next to will smith and sedrick ellis would not only raise their level of play, but it would allow the rookie to utilize his skills in the mismatches that the other 2 guys create

This year we were limited by the final 6 rule, I was also disappointed in what they did but I think they did as best as they could. They did what they could in FA and did what they always do in the draft. They just aren't the team that's going to reach for a prospect just because he fills a need.

Sure there are a few guys that get it right off the bat but they are few and far between. Most rookies are backups and maybe rotational players, few are impact players and those that are, are usually high draft picks. Sedrick Ellis showed flashes but now he's starting to really explode. Linval Joseph has been a gameday inactive for the Giants. 3 years is being to general but to bet the house on a draft pick getting it right off the bat isn't a good bet to make.

Not to mention, our DT's have been holding down their end of the deal pretty well this year, but our DE's just aren't getting any pressure. Not to mention they'll all be over 30 next year except for Junior Galette. IMO, if there are 2 similarly rated prospects at DT and DE we'll draft the DE.
