Watson to the Browns (1 Viewer)

I think it worked out best. Yes, we need a talented QB, but one with no pending legal troubles/possible suspensions that would have cost a ransom, plus 3 years of 1st round picks and who knows what else? Just insanity. I think this sport has become more about the drama involved than the actual game.
I was also a little worried about the fact he's established he will just refuse to play for his team if he becomes unhappy. It's a big risk spending 3 1st rounders on a guy like that even if you set aside the moral issues and possible suspension. If CLE ends up winning a Super Bowl this way, more power to 'em, but...definitely a high risk move.

Watson is 100% about $.

For someone like myself who doesn’t know a thing about cap space, does this art Cleveland back in terms of being able to sign other players?

I bet Cleveland panicked yesterday when Baker said he wanted out, and that caused them to call Watson and just meet every single one of his demands and probably more.

There was no way Mickey was going to give anyone a fully guaranteed contract, not with his legal issues.
I think you are correct they panicked big time. I wish I knew what the first offer was because he said no. I am hoping we somehow learn of all the offers.
Yeah over the last 6 or 7 years we set a recline for sure and you can do that when you have a Superbowl contending team.

Good. The Browns can have him; wasn't crazy about giving up 3 ones. Winston is every bit as good as far as I'm concerned. Saints don't have to give up anything for him.

This had to go down this way from CLE's perspective:
CLE - Makes an offer for DW. "Baker sucks. We need an adult at QB."
Baker - "Fork you guys. Not coming back, then."
DW - "CLE's out of the running. But I still don't know between NO vs ATL. I'm going to be a total birch about this and not make up my mind until next week."
CLE - "Oh shirt. Now we have no QB at all! Heyyyy DW and Hou - here's a shirtload more money and even more picks then we originally offered. Please please please accept."

End.

Man oh, man. Cleveland's still gonna Cleveland.

This was all about money afterall. Cleveland kept upping its offer, Saints had a point where they weren't willing to keep the bidding war going.
I don't think it was all about the money. I think the Clowns told Watson they were not going to be able to get things in order to bring him to Atlanta, and he chose not the Saints. It turns out, the Saints were not even plan B.

Thats the real Loomis magic 😍

Dodged another bullet!

Meanwhile the Failclowns broke up with their franchise QB who might be a little pissed 🤣
