A plug in the middle! How many times do we see up the gut against our Saints? To much!! Plus Glenn puts that push up the gut on pass plays!!!!

Glenn at LSU has proved over every week and every play he is amazing! He draws doubles and makes everyone around him better. He is a great young man and has his best football ahead of him..

You hate to say can't miss player but Glenn is a can't miss player.

We change from 10 to 2 plus we give up a 2nd and a 4th! What do you think?

I would do it in a heart beat!

thanks, didn't know and I don't think a 2nd and 5th will work!

Mel is all over Glenn and has him at best player in draft. Mel thinks Dolphins are crazy to pass on Glenn. You build a D around a guy like Dorsey! Don't think we will make this move but I would love it no matter the cost.

I know you guys are tired of talking about this but since I have been gone for a good while we shall see.

Back in the day the draft was a Saints big deal and I miss hearing Buddy D talk about what we where going to do to mess up! I wish I could hear about 5 1st round picks in a row listening to Buddy going on about " are you kidding me, what are these people thinking!!!!"

glenn dorsey is not worth all that you propose. i think a lot of people need to put their lsu feelings aside. im not hearing about a whole of other teams willing to give up their whole draft for glenn dorsey. we have put enough stock into players that are hurt that havent played a down as a saint anyway.

I might move up two spots for Dorsey. But no mas. He isn't nearly the impact player you seem to think he his.

Yes I am a LSU fan but you guys are wrong about Dorsey! I have watched LSU football since the early 60's and he is the best D-linemen I have seen period. His motor is always 100% go and he is a team guy. He great against the run and inside pocket pressure is a nightmare for any QB.

Dorsey will be impact player from day one and who ever gets him like the Dirty Birds will have a all-pro for years! Anytime on this board a pro-LSU slant is taken many here just call in homer views but this one is not based on just be a homer!

Nothing to fuss about except any move to take a great player vs normal 1st round bust would be great. I guess I can hope for our normal late round surprise!

It is our chance to make a run. We are a good offense. We have trouble running the ball and we had trouble passing. What was mising was the TO ratio and field position.

Remember in 2001 when michael Lewis would return the ball to the 35 or 40 all the time. The saints didnt have to drive far to get some points. You know if you start within your 20 you want to play the stats game and not turn over the ball but yet become one dimensional.

The point is our defense never gave our very good offense good field position from turnover or got any turnovers for that matter or force punts. We have a golden opportunity to change the defense. We have Vilma, Gay, And McCray. We have been making moves to solidify the Defense. Think hard and realize just how bad our defense was last year or in 2006. We are still weak in the secondry but we had no pass rush in 2007. In 2006 teams who couldnt stop our pass rush got blown out. In 2007 teams handled it. This is with Hollis Thomas and the DT gang. We had no DT pressure plus our Lb's were always getting stood up or lost in pass coverage. Good enough to make the player not advance but no nastiness or gang tackling. We got Morgan for depth and Vilma to start. Lb's are better than last year but we need a DT to help Will Smith and Charles Grant become beast. I mean if we get Dorsey or Ellis imagine a good QB senseing pressure throwing it out of bounds or a not so good qb throwing it up for grabs. Imagine the sacks and teams in 3rd and 15. Imagine the punting and the saints constantly getting good field position and also Reggie returning punts. Imagine the turnovers our defense will get. Jason David wont be burned because we will have finally the right help over the top to lay the wood on the WR or David can catch the duck pass. Imagine Vilma running passed Dorsey/Ellis for the Sack of the year. Imagine Qb's getting happy feet. Imagine Drew Brees starting from the 40 or 50 yards line. Imagine the points our team puts up.

This is what a great pass rush can do for this team. We have the offense, we just need the defense. Waiting for talent is like crapping in one hand and wishing in the other. We dont need to wait for player to develop and then reggie or brees contract is up or someone on offense is aging (like Joe Horn did). Do it just keep that 2nd round pick and get another starter.

Hey it isn't illegal to dream.

point

I hear a lot said about someone liking an LSU player, is just being a homer and I am amazed because most everyone on this board is a Saints homer. It just confuses me.

THis is a saints forum. not lsu. lsu doesnt play in the nfl.

While many people think that those who like and covet Dorsey are LSU homers I would turn that back on you -- many whjo think he will be a bust is only thinking that way cause he is from LSU - facts - he played in the toughest conference - he was a real difference maker -- he can stop the run - has a great pass rush up the middle -- is a high character player -- face it -- he is a top 5 player in this years draft and will be an impact player in the NFL.

As for trading up to get him -- I would have no hesitation to draft him -- but with the ability to get a quality player in the 2nd round would be hesitant to trade away my 1st and 2nd to get him -- would give up the 1st and 3rd though

I would LOVE to have Dorsey, but I doubt it will happen. I have relegated myself to a 2nd tier guy like Laws or Sims. They will eat the blocks that we need to free up our LBs and DEs.

I'm am on the Glenrick Dorsellis bandwagon. I'd love to see the Saints make the move for one of them. Because of my LSU colored glasses, I naturally like Dorsey slightly more, but they are both going to wreak havoc in the NFL. And they are both more than just run-stopping plugs in the middle. They have the motor and strength to knock offensive linemen over and sack the QB or take down the RB in the backfield.
While it is looking somewhat unlikely and that we'll end up with Laws or Sims in the 2nd round, I'd much rather Glenrick Dorsellis. Laws and Sims will be run stopper plugs, but no more than that. I think they will be good players, but Dorsey and Ellis are future multiple pro-bowlers and will make an impact for their teams right away.

We probably don't have what it would take to trade up to #2 - #5. A value chart says our #1, #2, and #5 should get us there (which is A LOT to give up), but seeing as we would not be the only suitor, we'd have to give up more. The teams in those spots will be contacted by more than one team (some probably already have been), so they'll want "a little extra" due to the competition; and if they don't get that little extra, they'll stand pat and take their guy, IMHO.

One thing that I've noticed on here, many folks seem to treat this mythical draft chart as the end-all/be-all final word when it comes to trades.

I think it's more like the sticker price on a vehicle. If it's a standard edition truck among hundreds of similar trucks on the lot--you can negotiate the price down. If it's a special limited edition they can only get 10 of and already have a 50 name waiting list--you pay a premium for it. And some premiums cost more than others. And if you don't like/can't afford the premium, you walk away.

If the Dolphins take Jake Long @1, Rams could be losing Orlando Pace and desperately need a new OT to replace him, but decide Clady, Albert, nor Williams is worth pick #2 $, and know they can still have their choice @ 10--it makes them a lil more open to negotiate a trade.

Same with KC.

I'm not making a prediction here, just stating that $$$ and needs can also dictate whether a team is willing to move around in the draft--or take a veteran player at a position of need for them to make a trade happen.

The trade chart doesn't make the trades, but needs and the feeling of coming out a winner on a deal will make trades.
