I was listening to the Joe Rogan show the other day and he had one of those guys that go live in the middle of Alaska on. The guy was talking about all of the strange stuff he has eaten, usually because he couldn't catch/kill anything better.

Some of the things he listed:

Weasel - he said this was the worst as they smell like skunks and a lot of what we taste is based on smell
Every part of the moose, including moose colon. Says you have to turn it inside out like a sock to get the poo out first
Boiled wolf meat
Grizzly bear
All sorts of little birds

My least favorite thing I have eaten was dried cuttlefish from a gas station. The Vietnamese guy who worked at the store said it went great with beer. I disagree.

(PS - I know this could go downhill very fast)

In villages in SE Asia, one sees lots of chickens and small dogs.

They don't typically eat the chickens b/c chickens lay eggs, so...

Also, rattlesnake. Chewy and boring.

I remember one of those gas stations on Vets in Metairie used to have sushi - cuttlefish is on a whole other level.

Cheers to your willingness to try a tip from a local in an exotic place. That often turns out really good - maybe not so much that time

Tongue. Texture is not my thing so if it’s an acquired taste I won’t be having enough to find out

Sewer rat, I’ve heard it taste like pumpkin pie. Can anyone confirm?

I've eaten squirrel, turtle, alligator, frog legs, squid, livers, gizzards, turkey hearts etc. But I consider those relatively mundane by culinary standards.

So I'll go with the time I ate a cool ranch flavored cricket. It was crunchy. And vaguely doritos esque.

At an Aussie restaurant in NY I had Emu carpaccio- **** was good

Had squid balls in japan - that’s all I gave to say about that
