Question What More Must Taysom Hill Do Before He Retires To Be Considered An NFL Hall Of Fame Player? (2 Viewers)

@Artifactual I’m not trying to set a bar, I’m trying to point out a media and league wide lack of understanding because the Saints have fallen from grace and no one but us and our opponents fans are watching. It’s kind of like the East and west coast biases in the sports media. I think Taysom is worthy of the highest acknowledgements available, but I don’t have a vote. Those that do aren’t paying attention, nor do they care.

The National media HOF voters watch every snap of every player up for induction.

Short answer to an extremely long question....he will have to play at this level for at least another three years and will probably need to block a few punts or field goals. Hitting 1,000 all purpose yards would help.

He will make it. Not first ballot like Drew, of course, but he will. And I think it will be with a unique designation.

To a point I understand what you're trying to say. The Saints haven't made the playoffs since the 2020 season and counting. They recently fired their HC after a 7-game losing streak and are hanging on by a thread to any post season hopes while being guided by a special team coach now acting as an interim head coach. The Saints currently have a 4-7 record and are the 13th seed in the NFC and barely in 3rd place just one game out of last place within their own division.

TH7 isn't the Face of the Franchise are The Featured Star Player on the team. He has missed 4.5 games so far this year out of 11 due to injury. I get that.

Nobody outside of New Orleans cares about the Saints right now and it will take a major turnaround before anybody does. That doesn't mean nobody is watching.

Sports writers, broadcast personalities, and all sports media that have a professional interest in the NFL and its players know who Taysom Hill is. Don't kid yourself thinking that they don't. Moreover, the other coaches and players throughout the league not only know who he is but they have great respect for him. The younger players that don't already know Hill get schooled by their coaches in the week leading up to playing the Saints when they are trying to figure out how to defend him. You best believe the people who have a vote in such matters know who Taysom Hill is and are paying attention. It's what they do for a living.

Hill set 21 Different "Perplexing / Esoteric / Abstruse" NFL Records, however anyone chooses to frame them, in a Single Game against Cleveland on 11/17/24.

He did that while having the ball touch his hands only 11 times; 1 Pass, 2 Receptions, 7 Rushing Attempts, 1 Kickoff Return.

That may be an NFL record in itself!

None of them can be characterized as Insignificant. If they were they wouldn't be considered records.

For his performance in the game against Cleveland on 11/17/24 he was named NFC Offensive Player of The Week.

Each year the Saints play throughout the country and their games are broadcast in every market, not just locally in New Orleans. Any true NFL fan knows a few of the top offensive players on each team. At this point most of them know who TH7 is. For those that don't as well as those that do, if they watch a game involving the Saints they will hear the broadcast team rave about his Swiss Army Knife role and how he is a one-of-a-kind player in the history of the NFL, past, present, and future. It's no secret.

As far as "Setting the Bar a Bit High" comment I made in my prior post on page 10, I was responding to your reply to @RaginCajun83 in which you specifically said Hill would "Have to pull off his magic in a high stakes post season game", and then in another reply, "I'm thinking Conference Championship or Super Bowl.

There's no need to divert or wiggle away from those statements by weaving into the current popularity of the Saints. You can own those statements. That doesn't make you a TH7 hater. Like I said in my prior post, I'm not trying to single you out. There are several reply posts in this thread that share similar thoughts. It's OK. Those are opinions. Some have merit. I asked for them in the thread header and in my OP. Plenty were given. Everyone has a right to their own. It's all good!

The point I was making in my last post was that when given the opportunity in a post season game TH7 has shined. I was also pointing out that post season accolades are not a prerequisite to being considered for the HOF and that it's based on the entire body of work over the course of a career.

However, what I found most interesting while researching the information to the 2019 Season Wild Card Playoff Game against the Vikings was that not only did Taysom Hill have a monster playoff game, especially considering his limited usage by CSP, he set 4 NFL Records for a Player in a Playoff Game.

I added them to my OP.

4 NFL Records by a Player with Only 6 Touches (4 rushing attempts and 2 receptions) Plus a Single Completed Pass Attempt, in a Playoff Game.

That's probably a record in itself.

That's called making the most of your opportunities!
