Whats something you’ve noticed about this new offense? (1 Viewer)

I can’t tell what’s coming from the personnel grouping and formation. The old offense had gotten so predictable, I could tell the rough design of the play just from seeing the formation and initial movement.
Yup they did a short breakdown on it a few days ago on NFL Live. They came out in the same personnel, same formation, and same motion (H-cross).... and they ran 3 completely different plays from it.
One was the deep TD pass to Shaheed. One was a deep crosser to Olave. And I believe the 3rd time was a run play off-tackle.

All 3 were obviously successful. Same look, 3 entirely different plays.

I Love Kubiak!! His offenses are so fun to watch!

For me one of the main things I’ve noticed is our receivers look open. What I mean is the last year or two SP was here and the years after he left it always seemed like accurate passing was the key because our WRs always had DBs stuck to them like glue. It was always frustrating because the other teams WRs always looked open. This year whether it’s the motion or it’s the route design our players have 3 to 5 steps on the DBs so a ball a little behind or not perfect is still catchable. It’s not like the players are different, they are just open.

First and foremost, what a Dime of a thread. Much respect to the OP for starting this dialogue. This is a GEM

Other than the X's and O's stuff that I could write a whole page on. The biggest difference i see with this offense is, smiling and positive body language.

This team is so bought in. Last year especially around the middle of the season when we were playing our worst, you could tell the players were not having a good time.

We had drama between McCoy, Olave and Carr. Screaming on the field between players. The whole offense not being on the same page. Especially Carr and Olave. There were several weeks it felt like i had a better chance catching a pass, if I was on the field than Olave. They just couldn't get on the same page. It was very hard to watch...

If you didn't know before how important coaching is. You definitely know now

Shaheed has a big catch radius, and is very easy to throw deep to. All Carr has to do is throw it 6-8 feet out of the DB's reach and 22 will run under it.

Btw…here’s an excellent primer on what motion and shifting is and how it’s transforming the game from just a few years ago:

everything looks easy. thats the only way i can respond without making a 5,000 word response. name a position, and the execution looks 1000x easier. if i had to pick the biggest change its the o-line. every snap is like a highlight reel. its truly wild.
Yep.. everything always looked so difficult for us offensively the past few years.. like the defense basically knew what was coming.

Been an absolute 180° this year for sure.

You can see Kubiak setting up plays for the future. For example, the play when Rasheed lined up at RB. Now, on that play, they just ran a simple run play. But all of us watching thought it might be something more dazzling. Nope. Just a run. But later on in the season? Maybe it'll just be a screen. A little later? A wheel route. Kubiak is giving tiny little hints at something more explosive.

I think that last year the chemistry between Carr and the WR's was lacking for most of the year.

I also think the WR's weren't "where they were supposed to be" for a lot of the year.

The end of the year they were all much better and seemed to be on the same page.

The new offensive scheme this year adds to them being more open esp since the RUN GAME is kicking butt!!! (And... the WR's are making good blocks downfield on a regular basis to help with the RUN GAME!!!)

The thing that stands out with this offense is they want to physically dominate their opponent. They play with more “power” style players on the field more than other teams. They don’t do a bunch of 3 and 4 WR plays. They’re multiple TEs, FB HBs…and they are pushing guys around at the line of scrimmage.

This is a team that wants to play bully ball and out physical you. That’s what stands out.
