Wheel of Time - Cast Predictions/Wishlist (4 Viewers)

but Nynaeve is legit the stongest female channeler.
Right, but I just mean using that to misdirect the audience into thinking it might be her. And I guess I'll spoiler tag book spoilers that may or may not be show spoilers.

Top 3 for sure.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle the time differentials. Book-people spend a couple-three years doing things apart that I imagine the show will try to find ways around so they can all remain together.

They made a month pass in one episode. But they are gonna have to seperate when the girls enter the Tower as novices.

Wish this season had 10 episodes to help the pacing and character development. Im glad that the report that the first book would only take 4 episodes was false.

I just don't get why they wanted to throw off the audience to Rand when Moirraine and Lan knew all along who the dragon was in the books. The rest were just part of the Ka-tet to borrow a term from the Dark Tower...

Especially based off the actual New Dawn prophecy.

Yeah, the prophecy is pretty clear about where the Dragon gets reborn and none of the other Two Rivers kids remotely meets it.

"The Dragon could be anyone."

Uh, anyone born on Dragonmount, sure.

I’m just trying not to compare to the story “ as I know I.”

Almost all of my issues wouldn’t be issues if I’d never read the books.

I feel like you're getting too caught up in detail. They can just easily make up something.

My thought(s) can apply to both these comments I suppose. I am not against changes from the books. But I think it makes sense ONLY if the changes are for the better. So far these differences in the adaptation - either additions that never happened in the book (or happened much later in later books) or omissions from the book, have not really made things better. So it just seems like change for the sake of change or for some dramatic effect, or something. I don't know. I'd be real curious how or why the writers took what actually happened in the books and went "naw, lets change that to something completely different"

Usually changes in adaptations like this are not to make things "better" per se. More like having to make changes in order to fit a TV season format that by definition has limited time available. I think they are doing as well as could be expected. The time and energy put into the sets and landscape, etc., clearly show that they are invested in making a good show.

Some of us are still smoldering from the epic flameout perpetrated by another fantasy show that was gorgeous but written by morons.
We're hoping not to see that tragedy repeated.

It's like, you pick an IP like The Wheel of Time because it's popular. It has a built-in fanbase you can count on for word-of-mouth advertising. It's popular because it's a helluva good story. (Notwithstanding the terminal case of plot-wandering the original author suffered in the telling of it)
We accept that you have to make some changes in order to bring a printed story to a visual medium. That's fine if you're telling the story differently, but don't tell a different story.
If you do that, you'll get turned on with a savage quickness because that built-in audience you counted on now feels tricked and betrayed.

RE: Ep 8.

Yeah, they're telling an entirely different story now.

Get woke, go broke!

I read the books from the beginning. I enjoyed the series. I just tried to turn off that I read the books. Some questionable story choices, and “wokeness” that really added nothing to the story. Also, like a friend of mine said, seems like a lot of weeping for no real reason.

Heh. "Ignorance is bliss."

But by all means, enjoy.
I can tell by the tone of the thread that there is quite a bit of disappointment with this one, especially for those who read the book series.
Disclaimer: I am simple-minded goof who is not hard to please. Give me a show with some horses, swords, pretty women and a lil magic, and it’s all good for me. :hihi:

I have read a few of the books. I thought the first episode was meh. Since then, i think it's been pretty good. I don't really have any complaints.

Agreed. Seems like mostly the ones disappointed are previous book readers. Understood as it didn't live up to their expectations. But if you have no expectations, it is entertaining enough.
