I hope it's Carr, but if he can't go, Haener is the guy. Rattler already got his chance earlier this season and it's clear he's not ready.
That is absolutely laughable. You do realize Rattler was working with no line or receivers. He was running for his life the entire time. At least now, he would have a line and weapons to throw to. You shouldn't be so quick to pass judgement on the kid. When all things were equal, he actually out performed Haener. But I guess Haener came in today and lit up the scoreboard so he is the guy now. I don't buy it

Haener is smart, has good accuracy but maybe not the biggest arm. Not trying to draw incredibly pre-mature comparisons or unattainable expectations but... We've had success with a similar skill set at QB in the past

What makes you think Haener is smart?

Probably too soon to be making one handed jokes but DC is as tough as they come. If he *can* play, he absolutely will (and should).

The question is can Carr handle the ball with a cast on his left hand. It would be tough to catch nalls in the shotgun, but he may be able to handle snaps under center.

I think Rattler got the start while Carr was out because he was more mobile than Haener and our O-line was decimated at the time. In college, Rattler could move around and buy time in the pocket but he wasn’t ready for the speed of the NFL.

When Haener has come in, he’s shown very good poise in the pocket, the ability to go through reads, and get the ball out quick. I’m in no way saying Haener will come in and look like Drew Brees, but he does deserve a chance with the starting offense to show if he has what it takes or not.

Allowing Haener to start will give both he and Rattler some game film for who ever is HC & OC to evaluate and determine if they want to go after a QB in the draft or not.
That's the misconception about heaner and rattler be more mobile than the other. Heaner can move around the pocket and improvise better, in my opinion. I have seen him scramble well. He gets rid of the ball quicker. I have seen Rattlers scramble and run. He seems hesitant or a little slower than Carr.

I don't understand why we wouldn't want to see what Haener can do? Rattler was clearly not ready in his starts earlier this season. I like him, but he'll have plenty of opportunities in the next season or two to show he's ready. We need to see what we have in Haener more than Spencer.
I agree with this. This is Haener's second year in the NFL and he has yet to be given a full week of practice time as the #1 QB leading up to a start. Give him that opportunity now and let's see what he can do.

With the entire middle of the OL gone and no WRs I don't think we got a real view of what Rattler can do. With the OL back and MVS, Jackson, and Means providing some semblance of actual NFL WRs we would finally get to actually see what Rattler can do.

He better. He'll have an actual OL and some actual NFL WRs to throw to which Rattler did not have.
While that's true to some extent, when he did have time and did make decisions on the field, it was clear he's still very green and needs a lot more reps to get decent performance with the team. Haener is in his second year, and probably is, and should be, ahead of Rattler. That doesn't mean Rattler won't eventually be the better QB of the 2, just not there yet. I hope Rattler develops into a legitimate starter with the team. Maybe this offseason, he gets there, maybe not.

Rattler. After getting thrown into the fire and now back sitting for a few weeks, I believe he will take that next step in the progression. You have to play the guy who has the most potential as a starter in the NFL. That's Rattler and it's not even close.

Kind of hard to forget the one time Rattler couldn't do anything most the game, then Haener comes in for one series and drives the field for a TD. What has me very curious for Haener, is the play calling was tailored for Rattler, and Haener "threw open a receiver".

I suspect we'll see both before end of the year. But I'm far more curious to see what we have in Haener. We haven't actually seen him for a full game with a gameplan tailored for him at QB. But we have Rattler. Although he was stripped of IOL and WR's (and so was Haener in his limited snaps), there are still things you get to see, such as his ability to scan the field, anticipate the defense etc. He didn't shine in any of that nor give hope. He did shine in his attitude of being competitive and that attitude is what drives great QBs to be great. I think he needs another year. Maybe even two before he sees the field.

But if Haener comes in and doesn't show well at all, then we know to put our eyes to Rattler. But if Haener does show well, suddenly our coaching job looks more attractive to top coaching candidates.

For now, I think we have to role with Haener. Rattler may end up being a good QB. But he's not ready yet and throwing him in too soon will only further delay the time he is ready. We may have already hurt his career more then helped when he started those several games.

Lets have Haener show us if having 3 QBs on the roster is worth it next year. Cause no matter if we play Rattler or not, we won't have that answer unless he plays well. If he doesn't, the excuse will transform to him being a rookie, 5th round pick, blah blah blah. And its a very valid excuse since rookie QB's shouldn't ever see the field. With Haener we get that answer if he plays well or bombs out.

I agree with the posters saying rattler never got a fair shake
That being said I don’t really care who starts - either is interesting and potentially signals what Rizzi/ML may be thinking
If it’s Haener, it seems to signal that they’re still focused on this season (and keeping as much of the Klint playbook as possible)
If it’s Rattler they’re signaling that they are asking questions about the future
