I see it this way -

Haener if we're serious about potentially sneaking into the playoffs this year.
Rattler if we want to develop the QB with the most upside through in-game experience.

For this reason, I would go with Rattler (even though Haener is a little better at managing the offense currently)

I don't understand this thinking. This is implying that Haener can't be good nor the future. How do you know that? In his limited snaps, he's already out shown Rattler some and had a depleted Oline and WR just like Rattler.

So why is playing Rattler considered developing while playing Haener is not?

Haener's floor is significantly higher than Rattler. Better mechanics, better command of the offense, and doesn't get Rattler's happy feet. Everyone loves Rattler's elusiveness, but that's really the only thing he has over Haener, well that and arm strength, but Haener has much better touch and accuracy and decent arm strength and elusiveness. One handed Carr is our best bet, but with the concussion concerns, if he can't go, it should (and will be imho) Haener.

I have to vote for Haener.....Rattler had his chance, the circumstances were terrible but they aren't great now either, I think there is very little to lose by starting Haener at this point....let Rattler sit and compete for the job next year....

It makes no sense whatsoever.

rattler was appointed future face of the franchise so obviously rattler

I voted Rattler but I'm definitely a swing vote. Rattler showed a lot of blemishes in his three starts. I am good giving Jake the nod, but I suspect it will be Rattler again.

Haener.

He may and may not be a viable QB, but he has to play a couple of complete games to find out. All we know right now is he's smart, finds the open man quickly and accurately, has good pocket awareness, and is tough as nails. Those talents deserve a close look behind a decent OL, but nothing more.

Rattler shows a stronger arm, better scrambling ability, and can make some difficult throws. His biggest weakness seems to be processing speed (takes a lot of sacks) and maybe that could improve from experience. Of course Haener could be good as well. It's kind of a toss-up, and I lean Rattler behind a healthier O-line than before
