Why Do I Feel So Disconnected? (1 Viewer)

Yet we all will be hyped up again for next season come next July.
The head guy with the Disney name will play a large role in whether that's the case. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well, I'm a Saints fan...you got me. Try to fool me even more after that, well now you're pushing your luck Mickey. :cautious:

I’m still watch.
This isn’t college where you can pad the schedule with Nichols and Alabama State.

It's because the Saints are stuck in purgatory.

We are headed towards yet another 7-9 season. We beat the worst team in football by the skin of our teeth, our QB broke his hand, we have literally zero offensive weapons outside of AK.

Our best offensive talent received his 5th serious concussion and might have to retire, we have no head coach of the future, and very few good young players.

Even if we manage to fall backwards into the playoffs there is no hope of winning anything, only worsening our draft pick.
We have possibly lost three of our top offensive talents permanently. I really hope not. But it’s possible.

And, we still have the same GM !!!

Let’s hope for a 2017 level draft. And that doesn’t mean tanking. That is probably about to happen naturally with the backup QB starting. No, I don’t have much confidence in either Haener or Rattler at this stage. The performance of the OL against the Giants was quite unimpressive. Nonetheless, we’ll see because one of the backups just might take the next step forward—you never know,

Part is because the overall NFL product has become pretty BLAH. Nothing special anywhere, with terrible officiating on top, particularly for certain favored organizations. For what is costs to attend...meh. For what it costs emotionally when the refs or league office screws you...infuritating.
The Saints won and the Falcons lost yesterday and yet I don't feel much excitement about either. I mean, we are still in the playoff hunt but not only am I not excited, but I feel meh about ALL of it. Like I KNOW abject disappointment is lingering right around the corner.

Is anyone else feeling some sort of malaise or moribund about this season, about our B

We have no future, and it wont get better till 2050 when Mickey retires

This is exactly my story. Bountygate started it, No call, then Drew and Sean. Nothing to get excited about, and the rules, calls and money have gradually made sports hard to be interested in. I think Nil era may gradually destroy the whole thing. Hard to see players getting paid in high school playing very long. There will be no more Brady's and Breese's in their 40s who love the game. The NBA and MLB are basically all about money now, too.

A Steelers fan and I did our usual recap of the weekend's football games. He's always complaining about Tomlin and I've told him for 2 years I'd take him in a NY second.

He said what's up with your boys? What's the outlook? I said I don't have a very positive outlook on our team for the next 2-3 years. Our team is mediocre to weak, our organization is stuck as other posters have said....stuck in purgatory.

Unfortunately, the things that need to happen more than likely won't in the front office therefore we will "keep doing what we're doing." I think the bummer is we don't have much to look forward to for the foreseeable future.

Our salary cap is a mess as it always is and our defense has gotten old overnight.

I'm choosing to focus on the important stuff like God, my family and Christmas. I wish it was different with our team but it's not.

I was so apathetic I didn't even buy the game pass this year. I just watch the 10 minute highlights on YouTube.

The Dennis Allen years were hard on this franchise and the fans. It will take a couple of years of winning to get it back, IMO.

lol I’m just rooting for this lovable goofy team to win games. It’s so hopeless to that, let’s be real, draft position doesn’t matter much. It’s a down year at QB and we’re locked into Carr anyway. We aren’t in rebuilding mode and frankly, we can’t, because we don’t even have the resources to rebuild. We’re not the Browns with a rapist QB on a guaranteed contract but aside from them I’m not sure there is a less attractive team right now.
