Why Do I Feel So Disconnected? (2 Viewers)

The Saints won and the Falcons lost yesterday and yet I don't feel much excitement about either. I mean, we are still in the playoff hunt but not only am I not excited, but I feel meh about ALL of it. Like I KNOW abject disappointment is lingering right around the corner.

Is anyone else feeling some sort of malaise or moribund about this season, about our Boys?
First, we are not in the playoff hunt at all, regardless of mathematics and other factors.

To the matter at hand, for me, it’s simply that I am just along for the ride. I had posted earlier about having no hope and the disconnect flows right with it. This team is downright terrible and will be for the foreseeable future so with that bleak outlook, yes there is a disconnect. We have to let our playoff and Super Bowl aspirations go and just enjoy the Saints for what they are: three hours of getting away on a Sunday.

Well a win is a win but we beat the worst team in the league with their 3rd QB to play for them and who has defensive starters that the regulars didn’t even know their names yet.

The season has been horrible. Fired our lame duck coach, had a 7 game losing streak, haven’t had a real shot to make the playoffs since about week 5, had a ton of injuries including fan fav TH being lost and his career could be over, and currently the future doesn’t look bright (that can change of course)

So there’s not a lot to be happy about in reference to this team.

However, the falcons choking their season away always is a good and funny thing.

Sean Payton created a family environment. The 2009 team was a true family and all the players are still connected. When Sean Payton left, the personality and patriarch of the family left. He met a new lover and now we're stuck with what we're stuck with. I recommend a full purge, and trying to hit the jackpot again with another Sean Payton. But from what I'm saying the future doesn't look good for the Saints. When Payton took over, he at least had a decent offensive linemen and some players to build from..(deuce, Will Smith, Jammal Brown), and a few others. the saints currently seem to be failing. However, I am excited about Fuaga, McCoy, and yes even Penning. on defense we got Bresee, Granderson, that's about it.

All part of the "new NFL".

Maybe Adebo, Olave, Shaheed and Taysom come back good as new and McCoy and Ruiz are back full strength next year. That's a pretty good group to build on.

Maybe all six will never get back where they were or worse. That is hard to think about.

Some of y’all are… something.

The Saints winning always makes Sunday a little easier. The Falcons losing always makes Sunday a little funnier.

No amount of “I hate the head coach” or “the QB isn’t as good as the literal best ever to play the sport” will change those two truths.

Feeling down because there’s no stakes of significance is human and reasonable, but being a pretend GM fretting about the state of the roster instead of finding the things about players you like and pulling for them to do well is what’s making it a bad time.

For instance, I wanna see Kamara reach 1000 yards rushing - it stinks that he had to miss the finale in 2020 and lost the opportunity to play for it. I’d like to see MVS prove himself worthy of remaining on the team. I would like to see Taliese Fuaga continue to show why he was a great pick. I want Tyrann Mathieu to increase his interception lead since entering the league. I’m pulling for Rico Payton to get his first career INT. Cameron Jordan is still climbing the sack total leaderboard. I know these things seem like frivolities, but they’re still very real and make fanhood fun for me.

Really sad because of that hot 2-0 start and the team looked "complete", all 3 phases were working in sync.
Then that 3rd game where everything went to sheet, injuries on the OL.... then the next few games with injuries to WRs, Carr, and Taysom... going 0-7 in that span. The offense mustering a small lead and then the defense would blow it in the final minutes.

Finally getting Carr healthy again but he's behind a shoddy OL and throwing to 3rd/4th string WRs that were just signed a week before.

Just a ton of bad injury luck this year.

Like other people said, there's really nothing left to be excited about this year. So make the best of it: If the Saints win, then YAY we got to watch the Saints win! If they lose, then YAY we get a better draft pick. It's all you can do at this point.

Plus, let's not skip the fact that this past game against the Giants was one of the WORST football games I've seen between ANY two teams at any level. It really was just some awful football to watch. So yeah, you're not going to get very invested when the product on the field is that caliber.

Pretty much exactly the same. I'll watch the games but the excitement just isn't there.........................especially now with Carr being out.

I like Rattler better than Haner but I don't think either one of them have a clue right now.

The difference this year is that everyone was so excited and the way the first two games went we just knew that the Saints were back.

Then the train wreck happened.
