Will Smith goes on stage at the Oscars and hits Chris Rock then verbally threatens him from his seat (1 Viewer)

Rock went in on the Smiths last night and it was beautiful to see.

Love how he waited an entire year to address the "slap heard 'round the world". Just when Will started to heal, Rock pulls the scab off of the wound.
My read on Will Smith is that he's a fake nice guy whose anger is usually simmering right below the surface and that night with the slap the mask slipped off.. definitely don't mind that he's going to have to deal with it some more here.

I thought Chris Rock's special was pretty good last night.

Sucks that he stumbled around the Concussion joke.

The biggest laugh of the night for me was "Women are brilliant. My ex-wife is just as rich as I am, and she's not funny.

Chris Rock hit it out of the proverbial park. There are criticisms of this special saying that he is "an old man just complaining" or "he's not funny" or "he's anti-black".

Chris Rock is none of those. He is anti-stupid and an extremely smart human being and comedian. He is in the same vein as Dave Chapelle and Bill Burr.

Selective Outrage was pure genius and he didn't hold back. Revenge is a dish best served cold and he let the Smith's have it. And good for him. The Smith's can't air their dirty laundry in front of the world and not expect some sort of retort. And Will Smith chose to attack a very smart man. Not good.

I loved it!

Selective Outrage was on the level of Burr and Chapelle for sure. It’s not easy to be funny for an hour straight, but i was laughing the whole time.

I didn't really think Rock's special was that great.

There was way too much repetition for my taste.

He could have reduced it down to 20 minutes and not really lost any of the laughs.

Yeah, I really liked it but I've never really gotten the "live on TV" thing. I love in-person live theatre and live music, but he would have been better served by honing the material and then broadcasting a more polished piece.

But, given the Will Smith thing, I suppose it would have been next to impossible to avoid leakage of the material ahead of time -- maybe he felt like he had no choice.

He made a business decision.

He never really spoke about it after the incident and parlayed his response into a Netflix special. No need to hone in on the material when his response alone paid him many millions.

It just doesn't make sense...at all. Put taint on your rep to keep up a façade? Crazy

Or it's just that he's got a lot of difficult emotions and likely anger when it comes to their relationship that get suddenly pulled to the surface when he perceives she's being ridiculed to her face . . . the response was all about Will and those emotions and challenges, and very little to do with Chris - all he did was light the fuse.
