Will Smith goes on stage at the Oscars and hits Chris Rock then verbally threatens him from his seat (1 Viewer)

I'll try but I can't speak for him...

They are 2 people he doesn't care for at the moment. I will never like R Kelly because of what he did and I may never like Will Smith again for what he did. Are their crimes similar? Of course not. They are 2 entertainers whose music and movies I used to enjoy, but I currently have no wish to support. I may come around on Will Smith but at the moment, I'm not there.
Thanks and spot on.

The movie was shot in Louisiana and I had many clients benefit from their business being involved with the Apple Studios. I hope the movie succeeds and continues to help economic development in our area.
I have no problem with that and I'm glad that local businesses have been able to benefit from the film industry. They've all been paid and their profits are not contingent on people, at least not me, watching the movie.

I can totally understand and get behind that. You should watch the Will Smith interview by Trevor Noah, it will either sway you one way or not.

I probably should, but I won't...at least not right now. Let me be clear in saying that what I'm about to say I recognize as an emotional reaction on my part that is not grounded in anything but my sensibilities. I don't doubt that Will Smith is sincerely apologetic about what he did. I also don't think that my opinion on the matter matters one bit. I don't think that it should. But here goes, I am still deeply disappointed in what he did to the point that it still makes me a little angry to think about it. Very much irrational, but it's how I feel about it.

I guess I'll join the irrational club because this is how I feel. The only difference is that I don't believe his apology was sincere. IMO, there should be some level of shame for doing what he did yet he feels no shame for doing it. What he did was shameful. His half-arse apology was even more shameful.

Are you saying it's a sheetty comparison?
well that's why i asked - it's not a comparison i would think to make

I no longer watch woody allen movies - even though he used to be my favorite director - bc he was shown to be an abusive pedo
i don't think sean penn should have punched a photographer, but i didn't stop watching his movies because he did

I try to give him the benefit of the doubt, as I don't think he could pull off a full-arse apology without throwing his wife under the bus. Whether he should throw her under the bus is another story obviously but I can see why he doesn't.

But the whole incident was so pathetic, everything he's ever done and will do in the future is at least a little tainted. There are too many insecure people out there constantly taking everything as a slight and playing the victim and lashing out over it. I'm tired of giving them platforms. It's exhausting.

I think a better way to show that he would love to move forward with Chris Rock is to have found a part in the movie for Chris to play because This would be proof that not only has he apologized but the Chris Rock has accepted his apology and it would be a great public showing and both of them moving forward.

um… you gotta tease that out for me
How are the 2 remotely similar?
My comparison was based on both being people whose work I previously liked and now don't like because of what they did; Smith for slapping Rock and Kelly for raping teenagers. I never attempted to compare their crimes or say that one crime was equal to the other crime. It's an apt comparison in my view. My level of disdain for both is not contingent on the heinousness of the crime.

I understand what you are saying and I dislike them both as well. But, Will Smith has a path to redemption for me while R Kelly has a path to hell only. The interview Will gave with Trevor was a good one, especially when he mentioned the child asking "why". It's a good watch.
