With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (11 Viewers)

Warren is bigger, taller,
He is bigger and taller.
and a better athlete.
He’s not as good of an athlete as Bowers. While at Georgia, Bowers was hitting insane metrics for a TE with how fast he was consistently clocked while outrunning SEC secondary’s.
And I was huge on drafting Bowers at all costs last year. Bowers was the best TE in football out of the box last year…. As I said… Different but same type of impact. I think Warren can have a higher ceiling because he can run the ball, and develop as a better blocker, and has also thrown passes. He was also a great basketball athlete in HS.
I was also a huge advocate on drafting Bowers last year. He was my top target in the draft for us. Bowers can also run the ball. I doubt Warren will make much of an impact throwing the ball other than maybe a few times in his entire NFL career. Not enough to really even factor it.
I’ve done my homework on the guy. He can be as special as Bowers…. Just in different ways.
I’ve also done my homework on both players. Warren isn’t as talented as Bowers. Not a slight on Warren it’s just the reality of it.
The only comparison I have for them is they play the same position and I wanted them both to be Saints. They are not at all the same player. Kelce and Kittle are not the same type of player…. Both are equally talented and insanely good players.
Bowers has the potential to shatter TE receiving records. Warren does not.

After 2 years, you should stop with "if Miller can stay healthy". You better be planning on him NOT being healthy. And I don't think you can rely on 30 year old Kamara to be healthy all year, either. Then who are you left relying on? Mimms? That's a loss waiting to happen.
Miller can't even line up right when he's healthy. Pass protection lacking, drops passes, doesn't get the playbook, and always injured. It actually makes sense why he was in Allen's doghouse.

I am a huge fan of Warren, having said that he’s not in the same stratosphere as Bowers.
Brock is generational and will have a HOF career given health.

Warren will be a very good TE in the league and I’d love to have him on the team.

So, the Saints won't upgrade the OL.....ever?

The Saints have had a lot of success with RBs drafted in the 1st round, and not a lot outside of that except for Kamara. If we can get the production, we got out of Deuce or Ingram, run to the dang podium. The Saints could suddenly have a stacked RB room that teams have to gameplan for. Name one other position group that the Saints are even remotely close to being stacked at. It would be nice to be good at "something" instead of a big fat plate of "meh".

Haven’t you heard? This is the last NFL Draft ever; in fact, there won’t be any other rounds to add players nor will there be a free agency period before or after this year’s draft.

Nope, we only have ONE single opportunity to add an offensive lineman, and it must come during THIS off-season, and it must come at pick 9 of this specific draft. 😂

I heard they were talking about doing this. They might get rid of free agency too!!!

Sure we could use an upgrade at almost every position but there's a want to upgrade and a NEED to upgrade. We NEED to upgrade the DL , we NEED to upgrade the X WR. I think RB , CB are much more of wants. Passing on a need because a want has a bit of a better grade just makes it take longer for us to become a contender
BPA is the only way this team can go

Passing on better players makes it take longer to become a contender. The draft is enough of a crap shoot without arbitrarily passing on players that grade out better. This is how Jonathan Sullivan got drafted by the Saints. The Saints stuck to their "need" list despite a run on defensive line. So instead of getting a better player they opted to fill a need. In hindsight, a better player would have helped the Saints much more than checking a box.

LG was a complete train wreck this season. There's no way you can count on Olave and Shaheed to show up and be healthy. The safety play by the Saints was atrocious this past season. Another big need. Outside of Smith, no LB made a play all season. A LB is a must. A NT is a must. Outside of Taylor and Kool-Aid, there is nobody at CB. No speed. Poor tackling. The Saints have the highest-priced empty cupboard in the NFL. BPA or trade down. For the TE people, what impact did Bowers have on the Raiders? If a TE falls to the 2nd, sure. But, out of all the need positions, TE would have the least impact on the Saints.

A great TE who can catch and block is good to have for a young QB in rattler as an outlet, he's also like like an elite safety who is great vs the run and can also lockdown recievers, its rare. Warren is really starting to look like a great pick.,

This is one of the reasons the Saints should trade down this year but not out of the 1st round if the draft isn't going the way we need it to go...
We have until 2026 to get out of the salary cap mess & the only way to do it & hopefully remain competitive is to use the draft...

The more draft picks this year & next year the better for us...

Not at the 9th pick in the draft...
He's shooting up draft boards right now, up to 12 on Kiper's, not saying Kiper is the end all be all. And that was before the bowl game where he looked fantastic. But sure if we can trade down, grab an extra 2nd and get Warren, count me in.

LOL I'm all for taking Tet. But the biggest reason we would have won more games with those guy is our offense was DECIMATED by injuries and we were playing off the street WRs and guys that were out of the league or should have been on the PS @ RB . C'mon man. Also our offense was bad middle of the yr because the "Fat Guys " as towel likes to call them were mostly hurt on the OL. Ohh and don't forget we had a 5th rnd rookie starting @ QB

Now , if we had Graham or Johnson maybe we don't have 3 DBs running into each other and we win the Philly game or maybe Johnson does not have a DPI and we win the the 1st ATL game. Maybe if we had Graham ( another Fat Guy) tyeams don't run the ball down our throats and they don't score and we win more games

That's a fair point, if Olave and Saheed weren't regularly injured every year. Olave and Shaheed aren't really the starters. They're backups (who are terrible) are. Relying on constantly injured players gets you unemployed. Just ask DA.

Lol I still can't believe we drafted Sullivan instead of a player like Terrell Suggs, Troy Polamalu, or heck even Marcus Trufant
