With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (9 Viewers)

Sounds crazy, but I would love it. McCarthy was my no. 2 QB in the draft, sandwiched between Daniels and Nix.

Teams will make calls about McCarthy’s cost. If I was the Raiders, I would offer a 1st straight up.

I've said it before: Tom Brady in his prime would do nothing behind the current offensive line in New Orleans. The game is won and lost in the trenches and the Saints need to concentrate solely on the O and D line.
True... but! Brady would whip the OL, WR, and TE positions into a rythm by game 6, and they would play up to their potential. That's why a good QB is paramount. If the QB, OL, WR, and TE aren't almost like Borg, they won't play up to their potential.

We need a QB!

We need guards and an upgrade at tackle although Penning did better than last year. We need depth at center but McCoy has been among the best centers in the league. This is first time I recall he’s been injured. Don’t need a starting center just depth.
I had to look, cause it feels like he's always injured. 5 games missed in '21, 4 games in '22, he didn't miss any '23 (I was surprised to see this..), and has missed 9 so far this year. Not exactly injury prone, but it sure hurts when he misses games. A really good C/G that can play both positions would be huge. The interior of the offensive line is garbage, and we'll be playing for draft picks until we find some replacements. Skill position players are flashy, and make fans happy, but it won't matter who they get if the QB gets no time, and the RB has no running lanes.

I just don’t see the Saints organization willingly sacrificing a year in this blatant of a manner. For better or for worse, if Mickey Loomis is in charge again, he will go down swinging as far as asset management and attempting to win is concerned.

The desire by many to see the team do a total, full-on reset is going to be met with disappointment, IMO. Not saying it is the correct way or incorrect way, just saying people should adjust their expectations accordingly.

I expect Loomis will do next season what he did this season: He's not going to spend much, he will do the bare minimum cap wise, and he will either keep the picks he has or try to trade back and get more.

The Saints have never had to do a full-on roster turnover since after the 2005 season. It has been so long a lot of people forgot what that actually looks like and it isn't releasing 25 players in one offseason.

If Tet, Graham, Carter are all gone by 10 I have 0 issue with Jeanty. Then in the second you grab a stud guard and the saints could start to build a new identity. I know running backs are easy to replace, but Jeanty is special.

I mean he’s the best RB to come out since Saquon or am I forgetting someone?

After watching him in the bowl game, I'm not so high on him now. I mean, I won't be mad if we pick him, but there are other needs also.

Really? I mean his stats were low but he was breaking like 4-5 tackles for 3 yard gains, his oline let him down. IMO and he still looked insane
