I, like a lot of Saints fans, would love to see Ndamukong Suh in a Saints uniform next season. But I know he is not going to not come at a low price. Now I know some people will bring up the salary cap, but as we all know, Loomis is a Cap Sorcerer and there is always a way to get more cap room. So should we overpay for his services?

I am of the opinion that you don’t know if you over paid until you are able to see the production you got for what you paid. That would include what he opens up for the rest of the defense as well.

No. You pay what he is worth, and Loomis has an idea of what that is, but you never overpay for a single player. That is how teams get into trouble. They have too much money tied up into one non-QB and it restricts the ability to have talent elsewhere.

Loomis will figure that out.

Suh isn't nearly as athletic as he once was. The idea that we would be getting Suh in his prime is borderline insane.

What you are getting is a very good football player that can still manhandle players and make plays. So, define overpay because it's all relative.

I think it would take some serious cap magic to get him but if he were able to spread out the money in a way that did not hurt the team too much, then I would be okay with it.

Because of Drew's twilight I would say yes. I wouldn't like it but yeah, let's do it. But...it's important to know if we're overpaying a little or a lot because I don't want to overpay a lot and be in a bind down the road.

It has to be a situation where he's willing to take less money. Maybe playing next to a Cam Jordan gets him thinking that way.

But I don't thinking "overpaying" relative to his market value is even an option. Loomis may be great at moving numbers but even he can't just come up with $20 million if it's not there.

I seen a tweet earlier that said Suh is looking for 12-15 million per year.. If that's true, then we could pay him on the high side and not be overpaying IMO..

Also, if we miss out on Suh and choose to go after him, Mathieu was quoted as saying he's not looking for money, he's looking for a winning culture, and would take less to play for a winner..

I wouldn't under pay for that walking pile of garbage. I dont want to win that way.

Would I overpay? No, but I would pay market value for his improvement it would have on the defense. If we add Suh it would instantly make our defense elite.

Not only would I not overpay for him I hope we don't sign him at all. He's been a poor character dirty player his entire career. We can do better. His talent level has changed from those days but I'm betting his character is still the same. Find another way saints.
