Still think we could use one more “veteran for the room” type guy and I’m sure Derek Carr is in their ear.I’d assume Hunter Renfrow is not in their plans
That is all he is. A little odd to sign players like he and Peterman this early in free agency, but they are the type of late signing to fill out a roster for camp.Unless we want to kick the can on some more contracts, this is the Saints filling out the roster with a journeyman. Not a big deal. It's a depth (camp signing at worst) move. He flashed in Dallas, probably better than some of the guys on back end of the WR room in 2023.

I think for Renfrow it'd be best to have an idea of what WR depth charts look like after the draft before signing anywhere. If Saints sign no free agent WR of significance or in the first few rounds of the draft he'll probably still be around to sign to compete for a 5th or 6th spot on the roster. Wouldn't mind him as injury insurance.Still think we could use one more “veteran for the room” type guy and I’m sure Derek Carr is in their ear.
Guess it depends on price though.
Decent pickup

Where have you seen how much it was for (i.e. more than minimum)? Can't imagine based on his last couple of seasons he is worth much more at age 29.You don’t sign guys of the ilk you both are talking about to two year, non-minimal deals. They have a vision for this player.
He may not be a household name, but this kid can play.
Perhaps, but it seems like they are targeting YAC and blocking ability and previous history in the Shanahan/ Kubiak system. (At least for the slot). I’m not sure if WR1 and WR2 (the outside receivers) if they are required to be good blockers too? This is getting interesting, because now I’m thinking Jake Haener may be a future great QB of this system. I hope Carr can learn this system asap.Still think we could use one more “veteran for the room” type guy and I’m sure Derek Carr is in their ear.

He's 28. He signed a 2 year deal. So I don't believe it's a league minimum deal.Where have you seen how much it was for (i.e. more than minimum)? Can't imagine based on his last couple of seasons he is worth much more at age 29.
This guy will be our 3rd wr if I’m understanding what I’m reading. It’s also good to pluck receivers off the offense that scored 70 plus vs an elite Denver defense. Let’s face it, our team last year, streak or no streak, was going to get run by a better team. This new offensive change was 100% required to compete vs the big dogs. He's a good 4/5th receiver who knows his role and has the ability to step in if an injury occurs. An ideal vet in the receiver room.
It would be just that if we had ole sneaky Pete still. This type of Wr fills a primary need in this new system.Unless we want to kick the can on some more contracts, this is the Saints filling out the roster with a journeyman. Not a big deal. Ok, so the sight I looked at had his age wrong. My bad. He's 29.
