WR Tet McMillan as the Saints pick at #9? (14 Viewers)

I mean, they vary so it's not as consistent. But, the point is he ran in the same range as Evans regardless of if it was a Pro Day or combine. He's probably not really a 4.48 guy but he could easily be a 4.53 guy which is what Evans was.
If Evans ran at his pro day, his time would have most likely been faster. That's the entire point. I was hoping he would have been consistently under 4.5 on most stopwatches at his pro day. For a guy who is said to have trouble getting off the press, every 10th matters.

I just don't think it's a big deal for a guy that size as long as he's running somewhere under 4.6. Getting off the press can be fixed by adding some muscle and learning better technique.

He was never going to be a guy that can blow the top off and out run the angle from the Safety anyway. And, regardless of his straight line speed in the 40, he looks plenty quick enough to get open.

I mean if he really ran sub 4.5, we would probably never sniff him at #9.

I usually put together a spreadsheet of the top 25 WRs and their stats/attributes. The average of a Top 25 WR is about 4.49. You listed a bunch of outliers who have special traits in other areas and most of all the ability to play WR.

Lamb and London shouldn't be on that list as they both ran a 4.50.
I listed a bunch of top tier WR’s. Several (not all) of whom were also among the top prospects coming out like Tetairoa currently is.

Why wouldn’t I include Lamb on a list of players I was writing about that ran 4.5 of slower? Drake London didn’t even run, but was rumored to be a 4.5 (range) guy and I’d be surprised if he was any faster than that.

Daniel Jeremiah’s write up on him. Has him ranked 16th overall.

I wouldn’t be too mad. But I feel like we can do better in that spot.

Tetairoa McMillan
Arizona · WR · Junior
McMillan is a tall, rangy receiver with a Drake London-like skill set. He primarily lines up outside, though he’ll take some reps in the slot. He lacks ideal suddenness or burst in his release, but he’s a smooth, easy mover. His tape is littered with contested catches. Some of that spawns from an inability to consistently create separation, but it’s also because he’s so comfortable using his plus size to win 50/50 balls. He has outstanding body control and high-point skills. His catch radius is a real weapon in the red zone. He’s been productive after the catch because of his strength and physicality. Overall, I thought London played with more urgency as a prospect, but McMillan has the potential to provide a similar impact at the next level.“

I won’t be mad if we select him, but hope we select a different position.

I’m not a fan.

4.5 guy is essentially the average speed so they aren't really in the other group.

Your list is much shorter now than it used to be as guys are faster.

Nearly all of the top guys now are sub 4.5 and even sub 4.45.

He is bigger so expecting a blazing speed wasn't going to happen.

If he's a 4.57 guy, then comps we'll to Tee Higgins.

Tee Higgins 6'4" 219lbs 4.59
T-Mac 6'4" 219lbs 4.53-4.57

I don't like T-Mac's T-Rex arms, but he does have 10" hands so that's great.

I like a lot of things about T-Mac.

Though everybody believes he is a first rounder there is a lot of differing opinions on him based on his speed (play speed & explosiveness not 40 time in shorts). A fast 40 time would've alleviated concerns and assured a top 10 pick, this result is more status quo of some being much higher on him than others (first or second best WR in the range of about 8-22). To be top 10 I think his game tape is going to have to show either Mike Thomas route running (unlikely) or Marques Colston body control (possible).
This talk may all mean nothing if Lucas Patrick signs elsewhere (visited Seattle) & no sure starter at LG is found by the draft. If that happens all attention should be directed at Will Campbell & Armand Membou.

The point is there are plenty of recent examples of top tier WR’s that ran 4.5 or slower. None of what you said changes that. You even included another example in Tee Higgins to prove my point even further.

You just can't take a LG at #9. Especially since you could probably get a good starter in the 2nd or 3rd and there is still time to get a starting LG in free agency even if Patrick is gone.
