WR Tet McMillan as the Saints pick at #9? (13 Viewers)

You just can't take a LG at #9. Especially since you could probably get a good starter in the 2nd or 3rd and there is still time to get a starting LG in free agency even if Patrick is gone.
You only take a LG at 9 if he’s going to be the best LG in the history of the league lol. Need to take premier positions in the top 10.

Tetairoa is somewhere in the 4.5 range

The point is there are plenty of recent examples of top tier WR’s that ran 4.5 or slower. None of what you said changes that. You even included another example in Tee Higgins to prove my point even further.

It's a handful of guys running 4.55 and slower. Most guys are sub 4.5 now.

I have an entire thread on WRs attributes from a few years ago. I don't have the time to put all the stats in there for the past couple years, but I might.

He has the height, weight, RBS and hand size for sure. I haven't seen his Vertical, Broad, 3-cone or 20-yard shuttle.

His speed even at 4.57 is still okay for a bigger guy.

I was mainly keying in on your statement about there being a lot of guys in that range, but it's not the top guys. The top guys are faster than that and the handful you posted is just that, a handful of guys with 2 not even active anymore and a few more in the twilight of their career.

The younger generation is faster except Puka who is a tactician.

If you are a scout that is drafting outside of the top 10 picks, you are going to say you clocked Tet at a slower speed just so that he might drop in the draft to you...
You definitely aren't going to say he ran a 4.48 because at that speed, his size along & with his stats he is a Top 5 pick!

That's probably more a forum take than a scout take on his 40 time. He's a 4.5ish guy, everyone knows who he is at this point

I looked into the top five WRs and it does appear to be a dropoff after Tet. Some things were okay with Luther Burden but he was not so crisp.
Tet fits what we need , a big contested catch pass catcher. Warren would also fit the bill. There are other very good WRs but they are on the small side. Having Olave and Shaheed the need for the under 200lb under 6'1" is not so great. Other big X WRs that we could go for are Harris, Higgins, Ayomanor, Bech and Williams who is 6'4" 225

Agreed, he plays like a 4.55 guy & he ran a 4.55. In that case whatever you thought of him before this pro day should remain the same. Some might still see him as a Top 10 guy, for others he's a 15-20 guy. I've even seen a few put Matthew Golden slightly ahead of him. If I knew Jayden Higgins would be there in the 2nd I'd be targeting Jalon Walker in the first round & address WR in the 2nd.

This is my line of thinking. Tet won't be a monster with a QB like Carr. He'll make some splash plays but there won't be consistency in production due to Carr and Moore's run preference offense. I just don't see the value in the selection unless you're targeting a 3+ year plan to build for a passing offense (in our scenario).
Why do you think CKM's O has a run preference ? It was not that way in Dallas or with the Chargers. In Philly it was more dictated by the fact they had Barkley and a great OL. Tet has every bit as much a chance to be a monster with DC as anyone.

As I mentioned my list is 4.5 or slower as we have a wide range for Tetairoa’s actual time.

In looking at the “younger generation” of WR talent that ran 4.50 or slower:

Drake London
Amon-Ra St. Brown
CeeDee Lamb
Puka Nacua
Tee Higgins
Michael Pittman
Rashee Rice
Jaxon Smith-Njigba

There’s plenty of younger quality WR’s that didn’t run a fast 40 time. This doesn’t even factor in the vets that ran 4.5 or slower that still are playing at a high level.

His times ranged anywhere from 4.46 to 4.57 today on different stop watches.

It was literally just a quick list of guys off the top of my head that ran slower 40 times.

In 2023, 3 of the top 5 leaders in receiving yards ran 4.5 or slower- St Brown, Lamb, Nacua.

7 of the top 15 in receiving yards ran 4.5 or slower in 2023.

In 2024, 2 of the top 5 leaders in receiving yards ran 4.5 or slower- St Brown and London

6 of the top 15 in receiving yards ran 4.5 or slower in 2024

This doesn’t even factor in that Nacua, Rashee Rice, Higgins missed significant time all 3 were likely going to be in the top 15 as well over a full season based off their per game averages last year.
The younger generation is faster except Puka who is a tactician.
See above list.

I really am not worried about Tetairoa’s time as he’s shown excellent traits on film. Plenty of current and past examples of WR’s playing at a high level with similar 40 times.

I'd bet $ that Higgins will be there @ 40

I don't know. He seems like a player that people are going to be say is rising up draft boards but those in the know were already on him & now they have a combine performance to back it up. McShay has him in his Top 30 & ESPN has him #34 overall (3rd WR), I think others will follow leading up to the draft.

Daniel Jeremiah’s write up on him. Has him ranked 16th overall.

I wouldn’t be too mad. But I feel like we can do better in that spot.

Tetairoa McMillan
Arizona · WR · Junior
McMillan is a tall, rangy receiver with a Drake London-like skill set. He primarily lines up outside, though he’ll take some reps in the slot. He lacks ideal suddenness or burst in his release, but he’s a smooth, easy mover. His tape is littered with contested catches. Some of that spawns from an inability to consistently create separation, but it’s also because he’s so comfortable using his plus size to win 50/50 balls. He has outstanding body control and high-point skills. His catch radius is a real weapon in the red zone. He’s been productive after the catch because of his strength and physicality. Overall, I thought London played with more urgency as a prospect, but McMillan has the potential to provide a similar impact at the next level.“

Drake London? Yeah, Warren or Jeanty if a playmaker. OL or DL otherwise.
