Young couple goes on van tour of US, boy comes back with van - no girl (1 Viewer)

Not a b.s. compliment -- I admire, envy that and strive for that. And while I sincerely believe in the glass houses and 'there but for the grace of God' approach, in all honesty the judgmental streak in me is a mile wide in a case like this.
Don't mistake my human empathy as a lack of judgment. But I also judge the people standing outside their house screaming trying to, I guess, make themselves feel better. It doesn't really do anything else.

God bless Dog. If he gets a result, good for him. But his musings I'm not really interested in. It's only doing the same thing we're doing here.

I do have kids. And if they murder someone (even the one with a learning disability)…I’d blame myself.
Wow, ok. Not dismissing your reaction -- I mean that sincerely and not in some new age-y, your truth b.s. kind of way. But there's a difference between feeling guilty and actually bearing responsibility in such a scenario.

I just remember my kids when they were teenagers and how perilous that period felt. They were always good, empathetic kids -- did some stupid things, but never anything materially cruel or irrevocably stupid. But I always felt that it would only take the wrong set of friends/influences to lose them -- I used to wonder, what do you do if your underage teenager just flat out refuses to obey? It's not like there are readily available resources or solutions to deal with that.

Fortunately, I never had to find that out. But, what about if your kid is just a flat-out sociopath? While I certainly can find fault with the Columbine kids' parents failure to do a basic thing like surreptitiously search their room from time to time, they took a lot of standard and "reasonable" actions prior to their kids going off.

Dog says he was told that he was a gentleman..

Dog said, he was on Brian's trail a while back. At this point, he is a distraction, and should go back to the island.

Either it’s genetics or environmental.

Brian Laundrie’s sister flooded with numerous death threats, cops say

By Jorge Fitz-Gibbon
Florida fugitive Brian Laundrie’s sister has received numerous death threats — prompting police patrols at her home — ever since he slipped away from authorities, according to a new report.
The threats to Cassie Laundrie Luycx and her husband, James, have included threats about “killing his family and kidnapping his kids” and “messages from random people,” Manatee County Sheriff’s Office records reviewed by WFLA-TV show.

Brian's sister has probably been the most respectful in this whole mess, and she gets death threats?!?!

Probably good advice to stay away from news cameras as a general rule.

Right, but I wonder whether/to what extent we disagree on the level to which parents actually have environmental control. Not influence, mind you, but control.

Parents absolutely have a responsibility and great level of influence. But as I look back now (supplemented over time by countless conversations with my now-grown sons to fill in the missing links)? Man, it just seems like it was a lot more perilous out there for parents than I thought at the time -- and I raised mine before full-fledged social media.

His sister? That's absolutely nuts. She hasn't had any involvement with this at all and has been much more helpful than the parents. The people who made those threats should be locked up. Even if they had made them to the parents, that's not how you do things.

Dang, even the mafia has rules against hitting innocent family members.

You know you're low when the Mafia has rules against doing what you're doing.

Haven’t read this thread in awhile so sorry if this has been mentioned

Did anyone notice how similar the pictures CNN used to promote their Gabby and Princess Diana specials?

The angle of the shot was different but the pose was the same

Intentional or Coincidence?
