Steve Young's first comments: New Orleans defense is too bad to threaten the Packers. (1 Viewer)

But they get turnovers... like we did in 09.

The Packers in 2011 are the Saints of 09.

Why do you think they are averaging 35 ppg vs our 31 (before tonight's game)?

Green Bay averages only 401 yards per game. The Saints are up to 450 yards per game (437 before tonight's game).

Redzone possessions and turnovers.

Well he just announced his retirement according to Adam Schefter so I guess the team won't win another SB.

u obviously missed the point.

Without a "Sharper" type defensive playmaker, we don't win another SB.

even though its off subject I hate when everytime we play the media is always calling for a shootout disrespecting the hell out of our defense the same defense that's statisticly better than the packers and pats.

All their regular season turnovers are meaningless come playoff time.

All it takes is one game by our defense like tonight, forcing two turnovers, and suddenly the scales are leveled if not tipped in our favor. That's the beauty (or curse) of the NFL playoffs.

The new rules against the defense really seems to target defensive philosophies like Greg Williams. The refs have decided that there will be no more remember me shots on quarterbacks and no more kamikaze shots on receivers.

Very true. Rodgers is playing consistenly lights out and defense bends a lot but gets breaks very similar, which is probably where Young's comments are a little off.

Saints and Packers very similar, with suspect defenses.

Saints can challenge, but it will be a shoot out. We should be able to be better on defense and BEAT the Packers.

We gotta continue this upward trend on D. I haven't looked at the stats but the D seems to be improving. We're just not a shut down D, but when we get turnovers and extra possessions for Drew it makes a world of difference. GB's D is not that different than ours overall, but they have a future HOF guy playing like Sharper in 09 and a LB who's like an All-Pro.

You're right but Green Bay had 11 turnovers in last year's postseason. They are very good at taking the ball away. I don't think they'll all of a sudden lose their ability to take away the ball.

You obviously missed the sarcasm, but I'm glad we got you on the record saying that.

Who can ever forget his playoff ints or his pick six in the Super Bowl...

Young sounds like he's suffering demensia.. I'm thinking some of those concussions are coming back to roost
