Butler agrees to terms with Saints (merged) (1 Viewer)

Not a bad signing but nothing to get excited about he will be a backup for us so that means our lb core is lofton, vilma, hawthorne, tez, galette, herring, chamberlain, humber, and butler

I like this added bonus that this guy can help out our LB corps in more ways than one, which is probably the most crucial group affected by a change from a 4-3 defense.

Solid signing!! Now all the baseless claims about Butler asking for too much money or being secretly hurt can disappear. He did what a free agent should--he shopped his services, visited teams to learn how he might fit into their system, and then agreed with one of those teams.

Yes, let's decide he is a backup 3 months plus before training camp even starts  He is coming here to take the next step up in his career, which is to start. We will give him every chance to prove he can do that.

These types of players have emerged all over the NFL in recent years - those deemed not worth retaining on starter money after 3 or 4 years as a back up with team who drafts them; and then go on to break out in a big way with a change of scenery. I'm excited to see if Butler can do exactly that for us.

Highly doubt we plan to use him as a back up, he'll probably be a rotational guy along with Galette/Wilson. Wilson is still quite unproven as a pass rusher so I dont see why people automatically pencil him in as a starter.

Do we still get Mingo now, or trade down?

We do whatever we want.

Loomis and Payton like to go into the draft and have options. So, we'll either draft the best guy on the board if there is one, or we'll make a deal if there is one to be made. They won't be desperate to have to get an OLB unless they have a guy they love.

He stands a very good chance at starting at SLB, since we don't have anyone that fits that position extremely well.

Corps.

All we need now is to snatch up Bryant McKinnie and we can walk into the draft and take BPA.

Next signing.. OT so we go into the draft with no holes.

bornnraised beat me to it.
