You Gotta Help Me - Why Isn't Teddy Our Starting QB after Brees? (1 Viewer)

I agree 100% but it all comes down to the $$. Honestly I believe that if Brees were to hang it up SP and Loomis would keep Teddy and he'd be the starter, but we all know Brees is coming back.
Basically because he HAS proven he can do it is why we cannot afford to pay him to ride the bench with a starter salary while Brees still starts.

I agree. There is no reason TB shouldn't be considered for the job after the way he performed this season. By his final start, Coach Payton trusted him enough to start opening the playbook more and Bridgwater delivered. Frankly, if the goal is a 2 qb system, I think it makes more sense financially for those two QBs to be TB and Hill.

The saints (SP and Loomis) are absolutely brilliant in how they are playing this. The starter and heir apparent has ALWAYS been Teddy imo. He absolutely showed it during Pre-Season and then put a stamp on it by going 5-0. That 5 game stretched ensured a playoff spot and our division.

We also know he’s the heir apparent because SP barely mentions him and allows the media to continue to buck up Taysom. If you had to keep 2 out of the 3 QBs, I bet you they would take Brees and TB next season every single time. Ideally all 3 come back and we go from there, but if push comes to shove, they are willing to get something for Hill and roll with Brees and TB.

Just my honest take and opinion on this.

It's not a debate. I'm killing you :hihi:

The Saints were 5-0, against .500 or under teams. I already spelled it out here:

Hasn't gotten hurt in the NFL, as far as I know.

Yes, he does.

good for him. No one gets to start an NFL game until they do.

He's stayed healthy in the NFL, unlike Bridgewater.
Your "argument is a poor excuse for a joke.

A better comparison for Hill would actually be Kamara.

They have just about as many actual passing attemts and completions in the NFL.

Lol

Teddy is a good QB probably would get the Saints to the Playoffs a few times if he were to become the next franchise QB. I don't however see him having much success in the playoffs. He isn't a Q.B that can put on offense on his back. He won't lose you a game but I don't see him winning many either. Against that Minny Defense Bridgewater would of gotten killed.

Like Drew Brees he hasnt done anything in the playoffs either he rode the coat tails of the defense in ‘09

He has been outplayed in the playoffs by

Rex Grossman
Matt Hasselbeck
Alex Smith
Russel Wilson
Case Keenum
Jared Goff
Kirk Cousins

all but one of these are mediocre at best

Exactly. People act like Drew this world beater Playoff quarterback. Dude 8-8 in his playoff career and 8-7 with the saints with loses to Alex Smith, Case Keenum, Jared Goeff and Kirk Cousin???. Three of the saints last five playoff loses the saints Drew Brees led offense ain't put up a point in the first half of the game. ???

Because the defense over performed to get those wins.

You mean the same way the defense over performed to get wins in 2018 with Drew 21-18 against Cleveland or 12-9 against Carolina or in that late season win at Tampa while Drew passes for 201 yards a TD and a Int, or against Minnesota when Drew passed for 121 yards a TD and a pick????????‍♂️

Can't believe 90% of the responses in this thread.

Bridgewater is a frachise QB in this system.

He even had a 4 TD game this year.

This is ridiculous.

Why did you pick his 4 TD game to bolster your rose colored view of Teddy? Why not his typical games; a One TD or Zero TD game?

Teddy's career production

4 TDs 2 Games
3 TDs 0 Games
2 TDs 7 Games
1 TD 16 Games
0 TDs 11 Games

Teddy's 2019 pre seasonTaysom's 2019 preseason
2 TDs3 TDs
1 Int1 Int
1 Fumble 1 lost0 Fumbles
61% Comp Rate68% Comp Rate
70 Attempts59 Attempts
406 yards gained 502 Yards gained
5.7 Yards per Attempt7.5 Yards per Attempt
QBR 81 QBR 100

Teddy was passing to the likes of Kamarra and Thomas. Taysom to Lil'Jordan Humphrey etc.

In the regular season several have pointed to his 50% completion rate 0f 3 out of 6 passes.

However Taysom averaged 9.2 yards per attempt vs 7.1 for Teddy.

Your view of Teddy is romantically biased. I'll repeat. Teddy has a record from which we can judge his performance. Taysom's record not so much but what evidence exists hints that Taysom is the better QB.

Waiting for the people murdering me in this thread to mount an argument for Kamara to Usurp Bridgewater.

Kamara---158.3 Career Qb rating
Hill---------46.6. Career Qb rating

2019 QBR is 81.9 Then add in his Rushing production for a full picture.

At 9.2 yards per attempt, vs Teddy's 7.1, Taysom is throwing much deeper strikes. Teddy's actual average for caught throws is 10.4 yards including yards after catch. For Tayson the distance is 18.3 yards.

So Teddy has a 68% change of completing a pass for a gain of 10.4 and Taysom has a 50% change of completing a pass for a gain of 18.3 yards.

in 100 throws Teddy gains 707 yards, Taysom 915 yards. Taysom is 30% more efficient than Teddy. Any way you slice it, and the Pre Season is the fairest apples to apples comparison, Taysom out plays Teddy.

Ummm... He is the starting QB after Brees. As long as Taysom is playing TE/RB/WR he is not in consideration as a QB.

People that think otherwise need to stop listening to people talk and watch what happens in the games. This is the same stunt Payton pulled when Jimmy Graham left, then Sean starts hyping Josh Hill like he's the answer at TE. Sean Payton is ****ing with y'all.

Again.
