Woman sexually assaults NFL player on plane (1 Viewer)

I think it boils down to a visibly intoxicated woman who felt entitled to make a nuisance of herself and escalated it to something physical. I hate to fly because it has become such an unpleasant experience. I'm not sure where the lawsuit is going to go, though. But everyone, male or female, deserves to not be physically touched if they don't want to be and it's not a laughing matter.
I agree with you. I tried to be funny in my first post that drew a lot of likes, but nothing like this is a laughing matter. If I offended anyone I want you to know that was not my intention and I apologize.

So many head shaking responses here. Sad to see. No one should be subjected to sexual assault. Some of the jokes in the thread shows how behind and ignorant many people are. Sad.

Yeah, let's pretend that he's not an NFL athlete and 'struggling' to fend off a woman who's probably no more than 130 lbs soaking wet. There's sexual assault, and then there's being socially needy.

It seems to me that there is a bit of a double standard. The central issue is that women getting a bit handsy on men is less of a issue. So when it does happen, its not really a big deal. But for women, it is much more frequentl. So they get tired of it, and thats part of the reason for the whole #metoo movement happened. If it happened to women at the same rate it happened to men, there wouldn't have been this issue. But the biological behavior in almost all mammals are such that males are simply going to be much more aggressive in seeking out sexual partners, therefore females do not have to be. Although sometimes, they attempt to go after males perceived as high fitness, and I suppose there is some advantage in increasing the genetic diversity of their offspring.

well unless we know that she was trying to procreate, the biological musings should take a back seat to the social dynamics
especially since sexual assault is at least as much about power and intimidation than about sexual gratification (and most certainly not about reproduction)
yes, in general a woman is concerned about sexual assault because she is not sure if she can physically protect herself BUT ALSO not sure if she can socially protect herself - she knows that the likelihood that the man will be held to account is rather small. She knows that she carries a much higher chance of both physical AND social damage than he does

the point of this story is that while the football player probably does not fear his attacker physically, he certainly fears the social damage she can cause - and the evidence of the flight attendants not protecting him probably reinforces the notion that the AA male football player is put in a loselose situation by the (presumably) white female attacker
