Question what do you guys think about Mac Jones? (1 Viewer)

Not a fan. I’d prefer to roll with someone with big-time arm talent who SP can mold. Jameis, Stafford, Lance, etc. I’m tired of seeing an offense that can’t effortlessly stretch the field against NFL defenses.

I’ll trust SP, though.

Somebody done told you wrong.

Jones is not much weaker than guys like Fields, Wilson or Lance.

Granted, I've seen all three make 60+ yard passes flat-footed but Jones isn't far behind with this 54 yarder from his own 25 to the opposing 21.

Again, far from the strongest arm in the draft but he Is the most accurate and has a GOOD ( not great) arm.

Davenport was a freak athlete going into that draft. Even though he has not developed as fast as many would like, I believe the Saints saw such a high physical ceiling they thought trading picks to move up was worth it.

Jones is a really good college QB and may be a good pro QB, but if Loomis and Payton require plus physical skills to consider moving up, I don’t think they would move up for Jones.
They let Brees skate the past 4 years with a JV pop gun arm so how much physical talent does Payton really need?

I agree, but the question was about moving up in the draft. If Payton wants a player to have plus physical talent to move up for him then they probably wouldn’t move up for Jones.

Brees was drafted with the first pic in the second round because he was not considered a plus physical talent. Hindsight is always 20/20 , but NFL coaches/GMs typically rank the most physically gifted prospects the highest.

It's okay. As I said, I'll trust SP.

But I'm definitely eager to see him working with someone who has elite arm talent. And since we already have someone in the building in Jameis who brings that, I'd rather just roll with that (or go get Stafford).

I would say no because I don’t think Alabama QBs are ever that successful in the league
I hate when people say this.... what schools exactly "produce" nfl quarterbacks?

only oklahoma these last 3 years? Cal?

if you did not go to these schools, you won't make it in the nfl i guess.

mahomes has no shot, because texas tech just doesn't produce nfl quarterbacks.

Local restaurants are chomping at the bit.
dude can play and I’m sure he would do well as a pro. However, the looks of his conditioning seems questionable.
Verdict: I would not be disappointed with the pick. I would actually love it. And this is coming from an LSU fan.

Elite arm strength does not necessarily equate to arm strength + accuracy.

That's the problem with that thinking.

You typically want the guy who gives you the highest average of both combined.

Great.

Here's hoping 27 other teams feel like you do and he's still there at 28.:9:

I’m aware. I don’t see it with Jones.

Funny that one of the traits that matters the most in making guys like Brees and Brady so great (accuracy) is so underrated by casual fans.

It's all that scouts are raving above today in regards to Jones but 20 years later people are still ironically asking how could people be stupid enough to pass on Brees and Brady.

Passing on accurate passers with sufficient arm strength is how.

Brady even ran a 5.2 but he was accurate.
