So people are actually happy with Winston’s play? (1 Viewer)

Winston isn’t losing the games which is an improvement on his time in Tampa. The only concern for you guys is what to do when you need him to go win 5 games a season. Can he do that? I don’t think he can, but this Gamemanager version of Winston can win low scoring games.

He has been showing improvement in decision making and has polished his short passing game, which is needed with AK being our only hope atm. At this point, JW would have to have a sustained terrible remainder of the season for me to doubt that he is not our future. And I mean multiple INTS per game that were totally on him, not bouncing off a WRs hands, etc. And I was totally on the "get Russell Willson" wagon during the off season. JW has proven hisself to me so far.

A win on the road in hostle environment with terrible weather is a good win. We still control our own destiny with 11 games left. I don't think anyone is expecting us to win the super bowl this year. Do you?
I do understand your point but each and every year that is the ultimate goal. Is it not? No matter how good or bad your team is

Well when the ball is held for way too long on those same plays and he takes a sack, then that would mean he should've gone to his second or third options right?

If open... You've seen our receivers right? But aren't you moving the goal post? You said as he drops back there are guys open and he doesn't look their way. So they just stay open the whole time? I'd love to see examples because that sounds more like a fantasy than reality.

SP knows Winston is merely a game manager at this point. Just don't lose the game for us. JW will never take over a game like Brees could. The ability to throw a receiver open is not in Winston's arsenal. Don't expect if Thomas ever comes back that this offense will look much better. It is what it is .
He...he took over the game against WFT.
Remember when Krishawn Hogan was starting? 2019 maybe? That receiving corps was even worse that we have now. But, Drew was maybe the most accurate QB to ever play the game.
Nah, man. Guys who can go 29/30 grow on trees.

Krishawn Hogan played in 8 games with 1 target and 1 reception. At no point in those 8 games was he ever "starting" by any definition of that word.

For crying out loud, that's the year Michael Thomas broke the single season receptions record.

Where do you people get this sheet?

Nothing short of amazing. He wasn’t good at all last night. I’ve seen several on here say he played great. They can’t be serious.
Man I thought he delivered a solid performance and even showed some leadership at the helm.

He didn't put us in a lot of bad positions and made some beautiful deep throws. I would just like to see him focus on his footwork. When he's fluid and mechanical, he's on the money.

Our offensive line can block better.

Most of the rationale people on here see what is likely to happen. About to waste this great defense. Just like a bunch of Brees’ great years were wasted by an awful D early in his tenure here. Yes, Winston isn’t losing games right now, but at some point he is going to have to win a few against good offenses. I don’t think he is capable of that based on what he’s shown this year.

Unless they are also covered. Payton would rather have him take the sack then force the ball.

He literally through Trequan Smith ppen and he stopped. He was gone......

More than a bunch.

But we've been getting above-average play from Winston so far, he's been more than a game manager, as he's on pace for 35 TDs throwing to as bad a collection of skill players (outside of Kamara) as we've had here.

Even in 2006, at least Brees had Colston and Devery Henderson, who would be our #1 and #2 right now, and late-season Billy Miller was a nice TE. Also neither Deuce nor Reggie is Kamara, but at least one of them was always in the game.

Fast forward to 2009 and you add Meachem, Jeremy Shockey and a much-improved Lance Moore, and swap out Pierre Thomas for an aging Deuce. The only two skill position players we have right now that even make that team are Kamara and Callaway.

And that's my rationale. But please carry on, do.
