Sign Winston NOW (2 Viewers)

If it came between trading for Rus or throwing a pitch to Rodgers in free agency.....
I'm throwing a pitch to Rodgers..

It's all legacy to Rodgers now.

How has the 1st rd picks of Peat, Ruiz, Davenport, and Turner worked out so far? So, if the selected players are oft injured or doesn’t perform up to their draft positions, was it still worth it? Or…..instead of wasting those picks, just send them for a top 5 QB, who may be on a 10 year window, like he recently said he wants to play for as long.
10 year window, c'mon man...SMH!!!

Winston being the best QB on a team with bad QBs is not a sufficient reason to sign him to a lucrative long term deal. The team needs to keep trying to find a franchise QB. There are few good teams without one.
Who said lucrative? I'm a Jameis advocate and I'm not claiming we should give him a 100 mil deal. I mentioned before they could work out a 2-3 year deal that works for both sides.

Unfortunately we put a number on QB1 for the New Orleans Saints...anybody coming in should start negotiations at $100M or else they're just going to have to pay ol' hitchsteps $95M

Sad, but true. Don't forget the 140 mil contract we gave him last year.

Wilson is a good player who is getting up there in age. That cannot be overlooked.

This roster needs a lot of improvement. You can’t argue against the value of high picks and then turn around and hope the team can just plug holes other ways.

If I thought we were a QB away, I might find the idea more intriguing. As it is, we are still working out of cap issues and it’s clear we have to get better in some key areas. That doesn’t take into account other holes that will open up over the next few years.

Anyway, I think there’s almost no chance Wilson will be a Saint next season. I don’t think the conditions are there for it to happen.
This roster absolutely doesn’t need ‘a lot’ of improvement. When healthy we have a top 10 defense and an offense that’s an elite QB, WR and TE away from being top 10. It makes perfect sense to trade for a proven QB.

I really didn't pay as much mind to the 140M contract because everyone knew that was a bogus number, but this $95M if QB1 hits a little different because it can shake out that he actually attains those #s especially if we can't lure in another QB...we'd have no choice.

Our best hope at a real QB next season is that JW takes a 3 year backloaded with a lower year 1 base than Hill but higher potential because of incentives. That lower base isn't because of JW's valuation, its because we probably won't have hte cap room to give him what he deserves over his backup.

I honestly don't know what they're doing. I really think Jameis wants to be here but he's not going to take a deal getting paid less than the backup.

A lot is subjective, sure. There are some glaring weaknesses, though, and depth is a concern. Unexpected needs will arise over the next few years. They always do.

I don’t expect to be able to convince those who are wedded to the idea of a blockbuster trade to land Wilson, but I think the circumstances almost guarantee it won’t happen, and on the outside chance it does, that it won’t work out.
