I was going to make a thread but I guess I ask this question here. Any theory as to why Rattler plays like Jekyll and Hyde? He gives us moments of potential. Then he starts to plays like we need to draft a QB in round one.
That's been his MO his whole career. He'll play great then make bad decisions and trust his arm too much. His footwork needs work

Once again, he's been in the league for a decade. There isn't anything that Carr is going to do over the next 4 years that he hasn't done in the last 10. There isn't a sudden epiphany that Carr is going to have at 35 years old and at this point in his career.

And I don't say that thinking that he's a terrible QB. He's not. He's just very limited and his limitations aren't a great pair with the other players that we currently have.
You are saying that like he was not part of 10 and 12 win teams and that was with a horrible D. If the 1st 2 games were not a peek into what our offense can be and what DC can be then I don't know what I can tell you

I think we’ll ride with Carr as long it rolls … But let’s wait until late preseason anyway to even think about it 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮

Guys like Jimmy Garappolo, Carson Palmer, Geno Smith, Ryan Tannehill, and Blake Bortles have won 10 games in a season too. None of those guys would be worth $40-$50 if their primes were today either. And to be clear, I do not think Carr is a worse QB than Rattler as it stands today. I just know that Carr isn't the future and if we're looking toward the future we have to look elsewhere while clearing cap and seeing if Rattler can develop. I also do not care about the results of the 2025 season. I care about getting back to feeling like we have a shot when the season starts every year. That is going to take some big changes and having a really expensive mediocre QB doesn't fit in with the changes that I think are needed. A second year guy with a little bit of upside making rookie minimum fits much better.

When you just have a throw a way season you also throw away the tail end of the careers of AK , DD Mathieu Cam. All have something left in the tank , maybe not at their prime level but especially AK has at least 2 more yrs at a near elite level.

If we cut DC we will have no $ to upgrade anywhere and we would probably have to restructure almost every contract to be cap compliant

You're looking at 2 yrs min of just sucking

Yep. Not even close.

It's not a Superbowl roster. If we were truly ready to compete, yeah of course you go with Carr.

But we're not remotely close to competing. So, you take your medicine on Carr's contract, and you trot Rattler out next year. Either one of two things will happen:

He'll have developed nicely and plays well, putting us in a nice spot to build around a good QB on a rookie contract. Or, he didn't develop nicely, and we're bad; positioning us for a top pick and we can stack assets until we do find our QB in either 2026 or 2027.

You just listed 3 guys in decline and at the ends of their careers. They may not be on the team regardless of the QB and for sure wouldn't if their contracts weren't so restrictive for our current cap situation. We are looking at 2 years of sucking anyway.

There are definitely two different trains of though on this and no real middle ground. I am with the train you just described above and the other train wants to win as many games per year as possible, even if that means only 5 wins are possible again.

We don't owe Cam, Demario, or especially not Tyrann Mathieu a thing. They've been well paid by us, but they no longer perform at even a decent level. Mathieu in particular is a liability, not to mention his terrible effort week in and week out.

Alvin's skillset, even at an older age, is particularly valuable when it comes to developing a young quarterback.

There is no universe that this roster is competing in the playoffs. Not in spite of DD, Cam, and Mathieu, but largely BECAUSE of them.

Can you not see the MAIN reason we were so bad this ys was INJURIES??? We were 2 plays away from being 4-0 going into KC. Even with DA as HC if we just have a reg yrs worth of injuries we probably win the south

Those players may not be in their prime but they are still worth it as starters. In fact Cam was not being used right evidence of how he played at the end of the season. We need an upgrade on the DL especially @ DT to go along with Bresse

It not a matter of owing them anything. It's that they are under contract and it's better to keep DD and maybe Mathieu . We can't purge them and DC in 1 yr

No. Unless he develops a ton before than. He needs to be backup and grow.

Cut Carr, start Rattler = top 3 draft pick in 26 and out of cap hell. We might even draft Arch.
