WR Tet McMillan as the Saints pick at #9?

I'll say this...

When Mickey was asked if he was confident in Carr he said something to the degree of "yes i feel good about Derek. I'm not sure if he qualified but he would have been top 10 in QB rating, top 10 in INT ratio, top 10 in completion percentage. he had some circumstances that affected his play. Middle of the oline gets lost, and you're down your top 2 WR's."

There was a bit more, but that last part about WR combined w/ their attempt to sign Kupp suggest that they want to upgrade the position. I still think there's potential for them to move up and try to get Ward (who I think can perform well without a #1) but if they don't and they have to move forward w/ Carr and Rattler they'd be wise to get a big bodied pass catcher

I have this weird feeling Michael Thomas may come back or we’re about to sign Amari Cooper.

Welp. So much for this being the pick.

He’s been infected by the Curse of Cam.
lol Ian gone lie having somebody that could catch like that would be lovely especially how Carr likes to close his eyes and throw it 50 yards down field

Wouldn’t rule out Keenan Allen with our coaching connections to him as well.

I hope not. He's not good anymore. He super struggles to get any separation. Injuries and age have sapped his capabilities completely. I wouldn't even be confident in him being our 3rd best receiver. It's the Bears are letting him walk.

You just mentioned Amari Cooper and Michael Thomas in your previous post. Of the 3 older vets, I’d easily take Keenan Allen. He thrived in 2023 (career best season) with Kellen Moore. The Bears offense was a mess last year hard to say how much was on Keenan Allen and how much on the system.

That's a fair point. I just remember watching a couple of games and he couldn't get any separation at all it seemed. If signing him increases our odds somehow of targeting Jeanty over drafting Tet, I think I would prefer it (I'm just not a fan of drafting 1st round WR's if I'm being honest. I think Stallworth, Cooks and Meachem created a bit of bias in me in that regard much like Browns fans likely feel towards drafting or signing QB's).

That’s somebody that’s has a feel for the game and how to maneuver people that was beautiful

Ward without a number one? All QBs like him need a WR1. If you don't have a number one WR you better have athleticism or a strong mental game. JD doesn't win 12 games without Terry. Even Stroud needs a WR1.

I understand

Luckily they do let you draft players after you pick a QB and they will even let you draft WRs later in this draft and in upcoming drafts.

I kid, but if you think you see a franchise QB, you draft him whenever you can because you don't know when you will get another shot. You can worry about surrounding them with the players you need once you draft them.

The Saints haven't drafted a QB in the first round since they took Dave Wilson in the supplemental draft in 1981. And, as far as I can tell, they have never taken one in the 2nd round. That's far too long to go without taking a shot at a franchise QB. I don't think Ward is worth what it would take to go up and get him, but we need to draft a QB in the first or second round really soon.

Something I was picking up on while seeing some videos comments.

Titans and Giants should clearly be getting QB. Browns or Raiders are possible. I don't think the Browns are looking for offense outside QB.

But then there's Patriots who are likely getting Henry.

Jaguars need help on defense, but they're the first threat to get Jeanty or Warren. They have Bigsby, but cut Engram. Do they still have Etienne?

Raiders could go after McMillan if they don't go QB. They don't have a legit RB though. But TB is not going to play around here.

Jets could go after Warren, but they need other help.

Panthers fans think their defense will improve with draft picks outside the first round. They're fawning over McMillan.

There is the possibility that if the Jaguars get Jeanty, the Jets get Warren, and the Raiders or Panthers get McMillan, then we won't have a chance to draft either of them.

Now if Giants get Dart and Titans get Ward. Then it comes down to if the Browns want Sanders. Does Brady want him? If the Raiders get him, then we have to worry about whether or not the Panthers FO is going to still be stupid and waste it on a offensive player(I don't think Young is good he played a cream puff schedule down the stretch). We have to worry about if the Jets want to upgrade at TE and Jaguars at RB.

I think Jeanty or Warren are more likely to reach us. Chances are Jags and Jets are not both thinking offense. Jets don't need RB help. If Jags pass on Jeanty he falls to us I believe. If Panthers are thinking offense, then they could get Warren as a weapon if Raiders get McMillan. If Raiders land Sanders though and Panthers don't go offense then we may have a shot at McMillan and Warren.
