Jonas Sanker, a 6-foot senior from Charlottesville, Va., was a two-time First-Team All-ACC selection and key piece of Virginia's defense over the past two seasons. A versatile and physical safety, Sanker led the Cavaliers in tackles in both 2023 and 2024, posting 107 and 98 stops respectively. He also recorded 8.5 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries in 2024. At the NFL Combine, Sanker displayed strong athleticism with a 4.48-second 40-yard dash and a 36.5-inch vertical jump.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints strengthened their defense in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting Texas defensive tackle Vernon Broughton at No. 71 and Virginia safety Jonas Sanker at No. 93.
Broughton, a 6-foot-5 senior from Houston, developed into a key player on Texas' defensive line. He was selected as the 3rd round draft pick. After starting 15 games in 2024, he recorded 39 tackles and 4 sacks, contributing significantly to the team’s defense alongside future NFL talent.

The New Orleans Saints have selected Texas Longhorns defensive tackle Vernon Broughton with the 71st overall pick in the third round.
Broughton, 6-foot-5 and 311 pounds, will help the Saints fill out their defensive line as they make the switch to a 3-4 defense. The big defensive tackle was a force in 2024, accumulating 4 sacks and 4.5 TFLs.
Broughton is quick off the snap and fights through blocks with his impressive length to make tackles. New Orleans has had a run defense problem and adding the former Texas defensive tackle is a big boost to their run defense.
