🚨 80,000 unredacted documents on the assassination of JFK will be released TOMORROW - 03/18/2025 (37 Viewers)

I've toyed with the theories for years. It's just my personal opinion, but I believe Oswald acted alone. The Carlos
Marcello having Jack Ruby killed was interesting. Why would a Mafia boss trust Ruby with secrets though? The
only connection he had was being a bar owner where mafia members held meetings.
i dont give these things much thought

but how about this

mafia Boss knows Ruby overheard /witnessed something at the bar and told him he could be killed or kill LHO and take the rap and sentence

I'm sorry but crap like this is why we can't have discussion of basic events in here. This thread literally just got unlocked with the caveat that it not get political and you can't just follow that one rule? There are tons of forums out there to discuss politics....there is no need to violate the rules of EE

The owners of the board can run it however they like and everyone else can try their best to abide or leave.

But when politics infuses things like the global climate and basic vaccines, it's not a simple rule to follow. I get the goal of trying to eliminate the caustic rhetoric and personal attacks that come with politics. But there's functionally no difference in saying "x politician is terrible" and "the Saints are terrible," because both are attacks to a tribalist's fundamental sense of self and identity. Triggers the same part of the brain.

"I can talk about politics because criticizing a politician on a board that doesn't allow politics is the same thing as criticizing a sports team"

Of course I am sure this only applies when it is a political sentiment you agree with

When a 49ers fan says the Saints suck and when my dad says a politician I voted for "hates America" both make me personally feel attacked. But I get over it, because I can be rational and realize that 49ers fans are idiots as is anyone who disagrees with me politically.

The difference is that one is what this board's primary purpose is (talking sports) and the other is something that the owner of this site and the mods have stated is against the rules.

If you can't comprehend that, then you are the problem.

So it's the fault of those who want the rules followed and don't want politics in EE and not the fault of those who refuse to abide by those rules.

The problem is that the topic itself is political and the release of the documents is being used to play politics in the first place. You can't separate this topic from politics when all the links to Twitter about these documents in this thread are from people with political agendas.

If you want to talk about the Kennedy Assassination that can be done without talking politics, but the way this thread was framed it's just not going to be possible IMO. I mean we are three pages into the thread and there isn't a single post about any document that was in the release and very few even talking about the assassination itself. And that's because the thread was framed as "Trump is releasing the Kennedy Assassination documents" instead of just saying they were being released and commenting on things revealed in those documents.

And, in the end, the reason that's not being done is because there apparently isn't any new information at this point and there is no real point in talking about this, other than for political purposes, until or unless new information is found. Which leads to the conclusion that this is more about controlling the 24 hour news cycle more than actually having anything to do with knowing what happened with the Kennedy Assassination and the investigation of it.

But, Kewee is right. The short comments aren't what is going to get this thread closed, it's the argument over what counts as politics and what doesn't that will get it closed. So, if you are really interested in the topic, the way to save the thread is to talk about the actual documents and what they reveal. That is if there is ever a document found that does reveal something we didn't already know.

It is simple enough to talk about the content of the release without getting into the motivations behind it....they are two different subjects.

But we all kind of agree that so far it is a bit of a nothing burger

FTR I think you can talk about somethings that are political, without getting political.

It's possible in some cases. But, it's nearly impossible when the entire issue for discussion was created for political reasons in the first place and the links used to start the thread are political operatives pushing the agenda the topic was created for.

I think it's all about the framing of the issues.

I mean if someone wants to say that this release is a bunch of bullshirt (and so far I agree it looks it), then yeah.

But in any discussion once policy, politicians, or political motivation gets involved, it is then political.
